bmh
I was reading that the population worldwide was diminishing and that except for some Arican countries, women have way less children aand that problems are looming because of that.. so the overpopulation may just be here for just a few more years but no more.. Honeybee is correct about the glaier dwindling down and that is true in Alaska as well so there is a climate change and it is wrmng up. The cause of it if there is one is another thing that no one seems to agree on.

Jreboll
This is why people are misguided about weather cycles. They equate temperature changes with weather patterns, however the ocean temperatures are absorbed over long periods of time and it takes just as long or longer to dissipate. The aim of environmentalists is to lessen the buildup of heat. Reversal is much more difficult and we will not see it within our lifetime. 2

Mad_Max
For those that use facebook and are interested in climate change, an excellent group to follow is Artic News - https://www.facebook.com/groups/arcticnews The site has a lot more detail than your typical media such as cnn from many credible sources - and good news is rare but the site is helpful in understanding the many many issues

Mad_Max
and here is another good source of climate info - an occasional newsletter. James Hansen, formerly Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Earth Institute, where he directs the Program on Climate Science, Awareness and Solutions. Here is a summary of today's newsletter - sorta techie - but shows a lot going on https://www.climatescienceawarenesssolutions.org/communications Abstract Record global temperature in 2023 helps reveal acceleration of global warming on decadal time scales. The proximate cause of the acceleration is increase of Earth’s energy imbalance, specifically a substantial darkening of the planet (decreased albedo) equivalent to a CO2 increase of more than 100 ppm, although it is difficult to apportion the albedo change between aerosol forcing and cloud feedbacks because of limited global measurements. Large 2023 warming is consistent with key findings in Global Warming in the Pipeline:[3] reduced aerosol cooling and high climate sensitivity. We expect record monthly temperatures to continue into mid-2024 due to the present large planetary energy imbalance, with the 12-month running-mean global temperature reaching +1.6-1.7°C relative to 1880-1920 and falling to only +1.4 ± 0.1°C during the following La Nina. Considering the large planetary energy imbalance, it will be clear that the world is passing through the 1.5°C ceiling, and is headed much higher, unless steps are taken to affect Earth’s energy imbalance. 1 1

Ferret
Not my leaders, I'm Canadian. The wealthy spew more CO2 into the atmosphere than anyone else. Bigger cars, bigger houses and more air travel. I listen to scientists and try to read unbiased facts from those who don't have an agenda. YMMV.

Jreboll
It’s all relative. I’ve been retired now 10 years and my footprint is much less than it used to be. It’s useless to make comparisons. One should just try to lessen one’s own use of resources. 3
