jrm30655
Yeah, I know this should be in food but no one ever looks there. I want some good cole slaw to go with my ribs and baked beans. Need to find it tomorrow before lunch. Suggestions? Because I'm too lazy to make it, that's why........... gringohombre
The restaurant next to Puritan Pollo that used to be Bubbas (I think now Mothers) has great cold slaw to go. Price is good also.

Sea
Hey. The best people read the food section. Tony's son, close to Superlake on the corner in SAT, has good take away coleslaw.
hensley
Tony's needs some sweetener if you ask me.
Sea
Tony's needs some sweetener if you ask me. Well it might need something, but if you're looking for coleslaw before tomorrow, it'll probably work. I mean, we're working under severe constraints here. cedros
Since I've never found any premade I buy shredded cabbage and grated carrot at Walmart or Superlake. I add some grated onion and raisins and make some cole slaw dressing. I'll have to try that place by Puritan.
Sea
KFC! Agreed. The best. Creamy and as sweet as marshmallows if I recall.
Ferret
Agreed. The best. Creamy and as sweet as marshmallows if I recall. And that lovely pale green colour is brought to you via food dye...bleh!
jrm30655
What about Wal-Mart or Superlake? they are both open tomorrow, The best I've found is the chicken place just a couple of doors east of Superlake but I don't know if it's open on Sunday
slainte39
Sweet cole slaw? Bleh, ppptttt, tooy. I love the tangy stuff. I'm with you.....one step below sauerkraut. Lupita at Panino used to add pineapple chunks to her cole slaw, which just ruined it for me. Don't know if she still does. Mom's in Riberas del Pilar is open on Sundays and always has cole slaw. suegarn
Thanks for the recommendations for places to get cole slaw. What about potato salad? So far, the only place I've found that makes and sells potato salad is Panino's Restaurant. Does anyone know of any other places that I can buy prepared potato salad? Ferret
Same place...Tony's son in the next plaza to SuperLake going east... imho, their potato salad is good and their cole slaw and their green salad with ranch dressing...the only iffy one is their macaroni salad and it's just plain boring. I guess cole slaw is regional but I've never found any of these places to put onion in their slaw and they're all done with a mayo base. I still stand firmly in the crowd that prefer slaw that's oil and vinegar based (with caraway seeds too).
Travis
Sweet cole slaw? Bleh, ppptttt, tooy. I love the tangy stuff. My whole life I've never liked cole-slaw because it was always too sweet. Hated it. Always avoided it. Then I tasted one that wasn't. What a difference! I like what they do at Adelita's in San Antonio. Crunchy, fresh, tart and tangy, etc. Food is so personal. Provecho! And to each their own! RVGRINGO
I cannot believe this thread! If you cannot make cole slaw or potato salad, you must suffer from severe culinary handicap syndrome. According to Darwin, you should be too emaciated to reproduce and will expire soon. Survival of the fittest, you know.
