 I don't know how long ago you were here, but our local free and low cost spay/neuter programs have made a big difference. So have our rescue and adoption programs. It has unfortunately slowed down but the various shelters were sending upwards of 100 dogs a month NOB for adoption.

They all gather at that butcher shop on the NE corner of the Ajijic plaza.  It is like a breakfast crowd waiting for the restaurant to open. 🤣

Now there would be a great place to do some spay and neuter.  About a half dozen street dogs gather there every morning and very quietly and patiently wait for bones and scraps.  

I agree, fewer stray dogs.  Still too many running loose and more than a few appear to belong to expats.
