blankletmusic
It surely was when we lived there a few years ago. Lots of strays, lots of barking issues everywhere we lived with very little recourse. Is it still pretty much the same now?
Natasha
Then or now.........it's still Mexico. Take it or stay away.
johanson
Nowhere is perfect. But I am very happy lakeside and with all of the great work the animal shelters do to help the strays,

NEWMtnMama
I don't know how long ago you were here, but our local free and low cost spay/neuter programs have made a big difference. So have our rescue and adoption programs. It has unfortunately slowed down but the various shelters were sending upwards of 100 dogs a month NOB for adoption.
sm1mex
I have seen a decrease in dogs wandering around in the Ajijic area over the last few years.
Mainecoons
They all gather at that butcher shop on the NE corner of the Ajijic plaza. It is like a breakfast crowd waiting for the restaurant to open. 🤣 Now there would be a great place to do some spay and neuter. About a half dozen street dogs gather there every morning and very quietly and patiently wait for bones and scraps. I agree, fewer stray dogs. Still too many running loose and more than a few appear to belong to expats.
blankletmusic
Are there any animal control officers and/or licensing and rabies-distemper vaccination requirements now?

Nope. Fortunately not a lot of rabies around here.
