  1. Not if it is a Visa or MC atm card ! We are never talking credit cards here, as that is a different animal. I have never had a Debit Card, only an atm card, as I believe the former is too dangerous to use. If you lose an atm card, no problem, but if you lose a debit or are robbed, problems. YMMD
  2. No they are not ! They just don't know how to compute the rate. I always get just what Visa and MC tell me I will get, and that is because I know how to compute the rate I get.
  3. Everyone gets the same, but many don't know how to figure it, so you will get different numbers from people. Some go early, some go late. some include the bank fee, some don't. It's unbelievable.
  4. XE.com has Nothing to do with atm rates., nor do banks. Only MC and VISA ! Time of withdrawal is important, as if you go before noon, the bank may not have changed the rate from the day before and it could be lower (or higher) than today's rate.
  5. Banks DO NOT set the rate !!! (which has been widely covered on this Board) How long have You been a member here ?
  6. It can vary, depending on if you use a MC or a Visa (atm card), but not a lot. MC and VISA set the RATE !!! The bank only sets the rate if you choose to let them do the conversion (big mistake).
  7. Banks Do Not decide the exchange rate, only Visa and MC ! That is not too hard to understand, is it?
  8. This is a scam. He thinks you are just another dumb gringo that will pay out of fear. Many do, so he figures it is worth his effort. Maybe you will offer to pay "half and he will be thrilled.

    Kiwis ?

    They are everywhere !
  10. Just interested in how much the bank charges to use their machine. I guess I didn't make myself clear. Actually 25- 50 is not definitive enough, nor is there a name of a bank (location). I'll try to be clearer next time.
  11. Which ATM has the cheapest peso withdrawal fee? TIA
  12. Just couldn't resist, could you? LOL
  13. We have a debit card at Citibanamex and when we go out of the country, we use it to pay all bills online. Been doing that for years.
  14. Many of those who come to Mexico forget to bring "common sense" with them. After all, more and more people these days seem to never have acquired it.
  15. I think if bags are stolen from your cart, you forgot the #1 Golden Rule in Mexico: ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings !!!
  16. She is suffering more than you are. She has earned you doing the right thing for her.
  17. The increase in populations puts more and more of these people among us. Locos tambien.
  18. I see you have more problems than just this business.
  19. One would think that an in person visit every so often (especially if they have your valuable things) would be in order, no?
  20. Wife and I went to Chapala Dental Care for cleanings this week. Both Dr. Barragan and wife, Cynthia, were booked until March, so we used Dra. Consuelo and Dra. Christie. While in the office, we learned some interesting information, you may already be aware of. Dra. Consuelo and Dr. Barragan are partners in this Clinic. Dr. Barragan has his wife as one of the dentists, and Dra. Consuelo has her daughter, Dra. Christie, as one of the dentists. I thought that was very interesting, and the reason the Clinic does not bear the Barragan name. So, officially, it is not Dr. Barragan's Office. BTW, both cleanings were 700p each and excellent.
  21. We always drive the free roads and only on a Sunday thru Wednesday. Never seen any sign of trouble. We cross at Laredo. No night driving.
  22. We opened and used the ATM on the same day, but that was a long time ago. Hope it all works as well for you.
