  1. So no more worry about a rogue cop retaining your license (as a ploy?).
  2. Not strange.... just normal in today's world.
  3. That Post needs to be pinned here! Good non-judgmental treatise on living Lakeside.
  4. Mike I'm sorry that you are having this tete-a-tete with CBP. Unfortunately my paperwork is long gone and I just don't think that I will be able to shed any more light on how you might could progress with getting a resolution.
  5. Rain of course will be different at different locations. The Ajijic weather station in Rancho del Oro is showing a 'storm total' of 1.81"
  6. Recall that I re-imported my vehicle 7 years ago, and I was at the Mexico border not the Canadian border. Also, things change. For example when I re-imported there was a Trade Agreement called NAFTA. That is no longer in force and has been replaced by another trade agreement called USMCA. Having said that, I did go to the current US Customs Website called "Importing a Motor Vehicle". Scrolling down that website almost to the end one finds this (abbreviated) information: Re-Importing A Previously Exported Vehicle - A vehicle taken from the United States for non-commercial, private use may be returned duty free by proving to CBP that it was previously owned and registered in the United States. This proof may be a state-issued registration card for the automobile or a bill of sale for the car from a U.S. dealer. So to me it would appear that, if you have the required documents, you should be able to re-import duty-free. The URL of that website is: https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/importing-car Good Luck
  7. I agree that the best thing to do with those 'found' keys is to take them to the Walmart service counter.
  8. OK.... not at all familiar with a Chromebook nor the ChromeOS system.
  9. While it appears that the CIBanco ATM might have more than its share of dispensing no pesos but claiming 'all is OK', I have also on occasion had a similar problem with the HSBC ATMs. This was quite a while ago but.....
  10. ... I'm betting that the majority of us don't really give a rat's a$$ that you made a few spelling mistakes in your Post. And.... don't quit posting.
  11. I agree but that is a 'Windows' solution... so many of us, and some exclusively, are using IOS and Android devices.
  12. It's an attorney thing IMO.
  13. Isn't this what mostlylost has been espousing for quite a while?
  14. ...but well regulated. 😎
  15. I have a T-Mobile "over 55" Magenta plan. In the US it is unlimited everything. I pay $35/mo with auto-pay. 2nd person on plan pays the same. When I cross the border Telcel picks up coverage. Data is then limited to, I think, 5GB/mo. It still "acts" like it is in the US with respect to how one dials my number. I dial Mexican numbers normally. I think that coverage in Mexico is the same as if I had a Telcel Plan. My Pixel phone supports dual SIMS. If I am at Lakeside longer term I will put in a Telcel SIM (for better data and normal inbound calling).
  16. From time to time someone will suggest that Lakeside is full of this but I'm wondering whether this is reality or just another myth. While I'm sure that one can anecdotally come up with examples of said, I'm wondering whether it is rampant or.... just something easily said but not based on significant 'data'. Care to wade in?
  17. Put "boxes" in the search function here and you'll get several previous Posts concerning places....
  18. Christine if you have Internet skills you can find out a lot about this fracc. I did, not knowing anything about it. You have been given some info, here is some more. It is definitely NOT run down. Relatively new, about 10 homes built out, most on the expensive side it would appear. I've attached a video of a home there, previously for sale that will give you some nice drone shots of the fracc area. https ://youtu. be/Z5td9nB_nDc
  19. I feel for your loss but I'm not too sure what a US bank/credit union can do when a bank in Mexico says that one got their money. It is the patron's word against a foreign bank and we all know who is going to win that toss-up 99% of the time. Maybe if one has tons of money in that US bank one could get better treatment from them in cases like this but I for one don't keep tons of money in a bank checking or savings account. I'm with Ibarra.... file a fraud complaint with USAA, refute or not!
  20. Back to the subject..... 16.75 today, 7/14/23
  21. The term 'google it' is known worldwide to mean.... do a search. I suppose that if someone just doesn't like Google as a company.... that's a common theme... then using that term might offend. Me... not so much.
