  1. Kayta in Chapala has been very good for us, with regular deliveries and a helpful delivery guy.
  2. I hope they include bus driver's, regardless of age
  3. Pete they are not the insurance company, but brokers who use a number of insurance companies, but may have one there prefer and recommend. Back NOB you do not call your Broker but the ins company adjuster, which you should do in MX, however when the ins comp is "diffcult" to contact you turn to your broker for help
  4. There are many people at Lakeside who have different status of residence, their qualifications to use their supplementary medical insurance may well be "legitimate " , others not so. But it's a personal choice, we are all adults. Living in Mexico and attitudes to following "the letter of the law" is opac and this can influence our thinking. Many folks choice Mexico because of its " lazafair" cultural, but have difficulty assimilating it, some never do!
  5. Sorry Jubilation I guess we haven't helped too much!!!
  6. Good question, plenty of insures around but experience when filling claim is important
  7. I like the idea of the golf cart, but are they legal?
  8. Most people die from cardio-related issues complicated by secondary problems like diabetes and being overweight etc. So it figures that living at a higher elevation will affect your deterioration due to old age. When that time comes you will have to make a couple of choices, surgery, meds, or lower elevation. Or a combination of the 3. Lakeside is Paridse so we are living longer and enjoying a good quality of life. Question how long is long enough???
  9. Some home's we're already inflated, if the inventory drops remaining homes are adjusted. Newly homes for sale will reflect the "large" increase in raw materials etc. Another barometer is number day's on the market
  10. I would recommend that you use a manager to handle your affairs . Being a absentee landlords is fraught with problems. Your question should be the names of property managers
  11. Check them both out and the quotations will reflect the difference
  12. Wow Rony welcome back, trust you are feeling well
  13. Over the years I have used both Rene and Carmen, both have satisfied my needs. Each service is "similar". That is how best to get the"stuff" to reach the problem, a bit like chemo treatment. One is expensive the other reasonable. One reminds me of Orkin services the other Mexican diy.
  14. The elephant in the room is the airline arriving on time. Given the chaotic air travel conditions, I think ordering a car to meet a flight is more problematic than getting a airport cab... Then some times getting through immigration and customs is a hassle. What ever makes you feel happy. We are fortunate we have choices
  15. We are considering sponsoring a student and wondering what is the realistic cost from start to finish. I assume accomodations and books etc is extra. Any one been down that road?
  16. I have found the GDL airport to be one of the better services in MX or NOB. Taxi clean , safe and relatively inexpensive, no haggling for price. I guess the time of arrival is important. There are 2 lines , one for domestic and one for International so you may want to check the line up.
  17. Ken uses the meds to mix his colors!! that special effect
  18. Ferret with respect why go wondering off and talking about Guanajuato,we have enough troubles of our own to fix. There's enough blame to go around.Sadly "WE" contribute to the problem, driving those large SUVs, single occupancy etc. Frankly there are too many of us
  19. The "Best" place is where you think it is. Maybe your maid or gardener, Cruz Roja, or the many, many resale stores, the choices are endless as are the needs
  20. With all the discussion going on about the pros and cons of living at Lakeside, bad inferstrure, water shortage, congestion, lack of public services, etc etc, I would see the many negative observations as signs to "move" on... But where to?or are all this cons perceptions? Is the sky falling in?
  21. I guess my solution is to forget about consignment shops just donate the stuff . God only knows we gringo's must be the "super rich" in the community, and still unwilling to let go of material "stuff" which has a small percentage of value within our "estate" compared to the majority of Mexican Nationals in the community we live , the majority who live from one pay day to the next
