  1. I ordered a Chicken Pot Pie.... and some multigrain bread.... at Vickey's bakery yesterday that will be available next Friday at noon. A customer standing in line said that they were the best pot pies he has ever had. I'll get to make that determination next Friday night I guess. Update: THAT was a very good chicken pot pie.... full of chicken and very tasty. I ordered the larger size and had two meals out of it. I'll go back!
  2. One can actually microwave some/most aluminum food containers. Make sure the top is off and that generally no two pieces of the aluminum are touching each other or that the container is touching the side of the microwave. If it doesn't spark within the first few seconds it will be OK. I often partially defrost one of these containers before transferring it to a toaster oven if I have forgotten to take something out of the freezer soon enough.
  3. Starlink is another option UNLESS they have quit offering service in Mexico (until they put up more satellites). NOTE: as pointed out later in this Post, Starlink is an Internet provider, not a TV provider. Sorry.
  4. Then why did you muddy the waters asking about a Honda Fit? You mentioned Japanese.... sounds like (now!) something like a Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V or Subaru Forester might be a fit (Pun intended). Wagon? How about a Subaru Outback. Other than Japanese one might consider similar sized vehicles from Hyundai or Kia.
  5. Personally I like an older Ford F350 Diesel Dually. Perfect for the narrow cobblestone streets, especially around 2am when no one else is driving around.
  6. To restate..... you do NOT have to have a lawyer to create a perfectly legal Will. Plenty of help online to assist with this. Non US citizens CAN have a "US" Will. It should be witnessed and notarized. This also can be done "online". I would pursue the links that Ibara and Mostlylost gave you.
  7. I don't think this applies as the garbage men's 'compensation' is just a gift, not a real aguinaldo.
  8. ... "and it only rains at night"
  9. Well, maybe not 10 but I get the point. Based on how many channels are now gone and only 1 satellite left, 2024 may be the witching year.
  10. La Nueva Temporada de lluvias
  11. We got some of the *mist* from your hard rain in west Ajijic... sun not withstanding.
  12. You do know that the Shaw signal is going, going almost gone don't you?
  13. Ezzie, any comments as to the cost of installation by Ajijic Electronics? Cost of a dish/LNB. Can one use an existing dish setup that accessed Shaw?
  14. Kiko is a well-respected member of this forum. IMO, your personal attack on him/her calling him "these types" was not warranted but does speak to your mindset I guess.
  15. Lou, you have told us several times that you are a Google Engineer. So can't understand why you did not easily find something like the following to answer your questions about a minisplit. https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=components+of+a+mini+split+system&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
  16. Well, the power was off for a long time last night... seemingly all over Ajijic. I was sitting in Gosha's when it went off during my meal around 6:30. Finished eating by candle light. Power didn't come back until after 9:00 in Las Salvias. Thank goodness a Kindle does not need power to operate!
  17. It's been vacillating between 55 and 56 and between sprinkle to light rain all night and day in west Ajijic.... So much wetness that my outside door bell is announcing visitors every 15 minutes!
  18. OK, I'll explain.... the state of Montana charges no sales tax to corporations. So people (with legal help) set up an LLC there when they are buying those big $300,000-$600,000 motorhomes that would have mammoth taxes in their home state. States have long caught on to this and are seeking out Montana plated motorhomes to fine the owner (unless they are full-timers and really have no home residence in the US). OP is suggesting that it currently has Mexican plates if one just wants to buy and keep it here with no hassle. Liability insurance available here using TIO Corp. But if one wants to take it North, they can get Montana title and lifetime plates (after they re-import it there as Mostlylost points out!). Also could get a 10-year TIP on it and bring it back if that floats one's boat. OP may be caught up in using Montana for very expensive newer motorhomes but the cost of doing that with this old Bounder holds no advantages as the LLC cost would be more than just titling it in, say, South Dakota and keep the registration current by mail. THEN get the 10-year TIP if one wanted to bring it back down.
  19. Solving those problems will be child's play compared to finding a buyer for an old $6000 Bounder asking $26,000!
  20. Not sure of your point but.... I was just suggesting that there are more ways than just monthly income to qualify for residency. The 'baselines' will increase (they always have) next year as this Post is discussing. Temporal will increase from $55k to $72k of savings. 1) Monthly income 2) Saving/Investments 3) Mexican home ownership and 4) Investing in a business here https://www.mexperience.com/financial-criteria-for-residency-in-mexico/
