Willie
Did I win some sort of lottery with the gazillions of them that I have had the last week? Just incredible and even with the door closed it still sounds like a distant buzz saw! It seems like this is the worst it has ever been. Tonight not many! cedros
They are very bad this year but at least they don't bite.

#HarryB
This is a problem we have created our selves. 20 years ago we had bobos for a few weeks in August. We brought swimming pools. flower pots, sprinkler systems and landscaping that all provide moisture for breeding. Again, thankfully they don't bite! gimpychimp
This has been the worst couple of weeks for bobos in our opinion, in 14 years here. More so about a week ago. They were in unbelievable quantities at our house.
Jubilacion
Okay, I hesitated but need to ask as a newbie, what are bobo's?
Bisbee Gal
Gnats, basically. They tend to swarm.
bmh
They are harmless so that is a plus.

Bugs about half the size of a mosquito that form large swarms especially around white walls or vehicles in the evenings. When you walk through them they get in your face, hairs eyes, etc. Harmless but annoying. They last about a month?

I appears that no one can answer what insect they actually are.

Jubilacion
Thanks, at least I know what I've been eating at night... bobitos!
ajijicbound
They are harmless, non biting midges. The larva is bright red and you may see them in your fountain. https://www.britannica.com/animal/midge 1
