  1. We had appointments this morning (9:00 y 9:10), first of the day. Many people were in line when we got there at 8:45. We went to the start of the line and told the employee about our citas. He took us right away. Please note that they kept our original payment receipt and our copies so make extra of payment receipt. Also, if you have nationalized, they want your INE card, not your MX passport. No eye test for either of us. We were home by 9:30. Very easy and we'll organized.
  2. We just received a 50% discount on both of our drivers license renewals using INAPAM. We use our cards for discounts at CHOPO also and a 7% discount at Walmart on medicine and medical supplies.
  3. I found plenty of parking around 11 this morning in Ajijic by the church, one block over from Colon store.
  4. FYI. They closed their location next to Waffle House about 10 days ago. They are still on Colon. They told me that they will be making deliveries soon.
  5. There was a post recently about going to Ocotlan for renewals.
  6. So, you get a choice. " ...my pesos in the equivalent of USD or a marked up peso amount." Jajaja
  7. Gualberto and Carlos 376 765-5653. They have been recommended numerous times on this site. Not sure about English.
  8. Do you like the politics of Google or Amazon? Do you check out the political views of ALL businesses that you frequent?
  9. I pay in cash at the self check out area.
  10. Have you checked this post lately to receive your answer?
  11. I started using the self checkout option about 10 days ago. I got tired of a person putting items in my cart for me or in my bags and putting papaya on top of bread. I got tired of waiting in line for a cashier who invariably will not have any change. No matter how many items I have in my cart I go to self checkout. Saves an incredible amount of stress for me at least. FYI - I am always there before 9 in the morning and still there is usually only one check out lane open with many in line. Nope, not anymore!
  12. Many on this site have lived in Mexico for over twenty years. Many on this site have Nationalized. Many are permanente. Many will be Nationalized. Many will become permanente when appropriate. IMHO we are here legally and therefore are not "invader's".
  13. We purchased our Merik garage door opener and remotes from Esteban (speaks English) 16 years ago. He has maintained it and repaired it during that time the same day we call him. Puertas y Sistemas Automaticos 3310725464 3767654367
  14. This administration will end probably with nothing done to alleviate the problems. The next will come and who knows what they will or won't do. We can't cancel holidays so I guess we all, individually, need to think about our water supplies and make sure we have extra in reserve for holidays. Regarding the traffic, our theory is buy what supplies are needed early and stay off the streets on 3 day weekends.
  15. Use your search engine, there are many articles that state the same thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_holidays_in_Mexico https://publicholidays.mx/2023-dates/
  16. Let them come, good for the economy. We have most of the year to ourselves.
  17. https://rollybrook.com/employee-pay.htm Excerpt: Holidays: If your worker works on any of the Mexican legal holidays, you must pay double time plus the regular pay; i.e., triple time. If the worker is paid for the holiday, but doesn't work, you cannot deduct the day from the "days worked" in the preceding computations for aguinaldo or vacaciĆ³n. If your worker works on any Sunday, you must pay an additional 25% of the daily wage. For weekly workers, you divide the salary by 7, then add 25% to the daily amount for the Sunday pay. This assumes that you have given the employee some other day off during the week. If the employee worked the full 7 days that week you owe overtime pay also. That gets much more complicated. Talk with your accountant. The Mexican legal holidays are: Jan 1, New Year's Day 1st Monday in Feb, Constitution Day 3rd Monday in March, Benito Juarez's Birthday May 1, Labor Day Sep 16, Independence Day 3rd Monday in Nov, Revolution Day Dec 25, Christmas There are several other commonly accepted holidays (the banks may even be closed), but these seven are the only legal holidays.
  18. Could this be it? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salix_bonplandiana
  19. You said it. ..."but if your passport expires & you return without it."
  20. Traveling on an expired passport is a crazy statement. You wouldn't be able to board a plane with an expired passport. And, in your scenario, why wouldn't you have the expired passport? Did you throw it away?
  21. Last time we renewed U.S. passport they punched a hole all the way through it and gave it back.
  22. Try a papeleria near you. We bought some at Trinidad across from SuperLake that was very good. Trinidad actually had a sample for us to look at before we purchased the package.
  23. The wind wasn't blowing in that direction. We didn't get smoke in Brisas either.
