ibarra
There has been a fire raging since yesterday. Huge flames visible during the night from Brisas de Chapala. We have been watching a helicopter drop water on it all day. Our Administrator at Brisas was told by bomberos that they need donations of food and drink for all of the many volunteers helping to put this ever growing fire out.
BenjiBoy
I was in the area this afternoon and it has reached the top of some of those hills and there will be mud problems when our rains arrive. Fred Habacht
sm1mex
Humidity down to 6%. Fire hazard high. Prevent fires with care and no butts out the window.
ibarra
We have received a WhatsApp message from a Board member to be prepared to evacuate if fire gets any closer to Brisas de Chapala .

Ferret
The young man who walks my dog reported at 7:30 am that the fire is nearly out. Here's hoping it stays that way. Kudos to the Bomberos!
ibarra
Fire is still blazing just not as bad as the winds have died down. The helicopter worked all night dropping water onto the fire. We hope the winds are calm today and maybe, hopefully, the fire will be put out completely.
Ferret
Winds should peak again this afternoon around 5 pm from the WSW. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/mx/ajijic?cm_ven=localwx_10day I hope they keep dumping the water.

ibarra
Wind is really blowing and fire spreading, coming down the mountain nearing the valley below. The valley then Brisas. Helicopter over our house all morning.
ibarra
The helicopter is getting water out of the pool in the extended stay units behind Hotsson hotel. Residents with pools in Brisas have volunteered water but too many power lines involved.

ibarra
Bomberos have asked for GPS locations of those with pools in Brisas to see if any of them may be reached by helicopter safely. Pool behind us is empty, power lines are buried so no obstacle for the helicopter.
ibarra
Update. Water is being sent to lower part of Brisas to continually fill a few pools that the bomberos are able to use.

ibarra
The fires are very visible from our house now, we are near entrance to Brisas. Still quite a ways away but moving fast. Helicopter is getting water again from hotel pool. The people in the helicopter are really working hard.

shortstop
What is the current status of the fires near Brisas.? Any change since the last posting? Hopefully for the better. I can't even imagine how the people who live in the area are feeling. Shortstop
ibarra
There are many small fires, more than last night. There are many fires now on a different part of the mountain which are actually closer to Brisas. Haven't heard the helicopter for several hours. Smoke is bad so we have our house all closed up. We are assuming that if the fires get really close that the fire trucks will be able to come here and help manage so they don't spread.
ibarra
A lot of smoke this morning but no visible fires.
shortstop
That is a positive! All the hard work by the firefighters has paid off. Hopefully it will stay that way.
desafinada
Half an hour ago, they were taking water from the lake. Haven't heard them lately so fingers crossed.
ibarra
We have seen the helicopter a couple of times lately but haven't seen them dump any water. There is still a lot of smoke. And...where there's smoke... there's fire.
