koshiboy
Though I've lived in Chapala and Ajijic for 12 years, it wasn't until about three days ago that I got a rash from taking a shower. After about 10-15 minutes exposure to the (unfiltered) shower water, I notice an itching in the pit of my elbows and knees, and around the ankles. There are red spots in these areas. Both the itching and the spots disappear quickly after drying off. I'm wondering what is in the water that is causing this: a chemical compound, parasite...? I'm living in Chapala in the vicinity of Electristas, between Soriana and Nuevo Chapala. What's your experience?

NEWMtnMama
Be sure to bring along a large sample of the shower water. I have no idea of what kind of tests you'll need or where to get them but your doctor should.

koshiboy
It's just me, I think; at least no one else has mentioned it. They are all native-born to Chapala. My most recent shower was rash-free, so I'll just continue observations for now.
Jreboll
Could it have been the soap you used?
koshiboy
I did have a Zest rash as a baby, but I've been using the same soaps and shampoos for weeks or months, and yet had that rash only on two or three consecutive occasions. I have now had no reaction for several days, so I just hope it doesn't come back
