Good job Fred. If we are not part of the solution, then we are part of the problem. It has been my experience that when one sets an example, then others will follow. Some of us just need a leader to set the example. You did that.

Anyone remember when a cartel murdered a Catholic Cardinal at the GDL airport when the car was mistook for that of El Chapo? Back in the Enrique Camarena days.

Planning to drive from Canada to Mexico - Dec 2022

On a positive note, I just read today that Mexico has agreed with the Biden Administration to spend $1.5 billion USD to upgrade border infrastructure bridges and roads. I would think the US will spend 2X the Mexican investment. From what I know, the focus will be improvements at all bridges and roads but more so in Coahuila with the Eagle Pass/Piedreas Negras crossing. Laredo and the Valley are saturated. The intent is to provide a more secure supply chain of the maquiladoras in Mexico to the US. Autos, auto parts, semi conductors, chips, etc. Mexico and the US need each other despite all of the political noise. Huge project in year 3. Completion estimated in about 7 years. Mexico and the US win, China loses. -

Good luck with finding a cell phone signal from Zacatecas to Saltillo. At km 38 N of Zacatecas you will hit the monster tope that will set you airborne while the federales are conveniently waiting for you at the underpass .5 km ahead of you. Got a flat tire midway between Zac and Saltillo, good luck! An adventure for sure. -
Well like the sayin' in Texas, "Closer kin, deeper in." I knew the employees at the Vivero who were terminated by the son in law upon Mr. Donald's death. A shame. Greed begets greed.
-
Late to the party but curious if the late Mr. Donald is the same person who also owned the Vivero across the street from Laguna Centro. If so, then I know the son in law. Reserving comment.

Americans have been drunk on a cocktail of credit and consumption for the last 40 years. Probably has been something like 30 years since the country had a surplus. Kicking the can down the road...
-
I have not looked that up. No doubt the trajectory remains the same is my guess.

Simple math. The US deficit increased 33% between 2016 to 2020, the biggest increase ever in the history of the US. There is no free lunch.

Mexico is poised to be the big winner due to Covid and the failures of the global supply chain. There is currently a large project between US and Mexico to pump millions into roads and bridges in Mexico so that the US corporations can keep the supply chains open in the future. States with maquiladoras such as auto parts, auto mfg, semi conductors, chips etc will get the most benefit. Coahuila will benefit the most. My engineer friend with TXDOT is going on a one week tour in Coahuila with the governor in his private jet in July. Torreon, SLP, and Saltillo is rolling out the red carpet. A ten year project now in year three. I have few worries about economic growth in Mexico as long as the largest consumer in the world is on the border.
-
Saltillo is now providing some water to Monterrey. I don't know how long that will last.

Good job Natasha.

Reminds me of this quote from the novel All the King's Men, Robt Penn Warren,, Man is conceived in sin and born in corruption and he passeth from the stink of the didie to the stench of the shroud. There is always something (All The King's Men)
