  1. What brands (with specifics if applicable) of wet and dry food are you currently feeding? Many options here to buy all kinds of food.... more than available at Friends of the Animals store.... and if you can't find exactly what you want, you will find something similar and acceptable. (Have 6 at the moment, on two different "special" diets, plus 3 on various meds, so not without some knowledge in this area) Revolution is here. Sell what you have to a friend NOB and save yourself the hassle of ?? at the border. And realize if you are going to live here, you might as well get used to the idea that you may have to change your cats' diet a little, but there are lots of options if replacement is needed. Hope your kitties do well with the move!
  2. Bless you for helping these little ones. Mom's fate is just another testament to why one should keep cats INDOORS 24/7! My "cat house" is full to the brim, BUT as I'm sure you well know Rony..... a picture or two is worth a thousand words. So if you have the means, please post pix of these babies. And all the best in getting them homes.
  3. Yes..... but will only say this. I have have it done twice at Tolsa. Very professional staff. Good equipment. Absolutely no reason to go elsewhere unless you don't want to go to Guad, and you have deep pockets.
  4. Absolutely. Even though they will be eating solid food, mom still needs to teach them to be cats! And if at all possible, by removing one or two at a time instead of all at once , mom will have an easier time to dry up her milk. And then please.... get her spayed!
  5. Not. Haack (family) long preceded Geoffrey. Geoffrey's shelter was Animal Shelter, A.C.
  6. Lexy, your husband was President for at least 2 years. Maybe you have a few scraps of documents left hanging around? It was very close to, if not actually "Lake Chapala Humane Society A.C." When you remember the name of a man, you are remembering the Haack Foundation who leased that land to the society for $1 per year. But that family name was never involved.
  7. Kyle, you're right. Seeing news stories about whales found dead with mountains of plastic bags inside their stomachs, dead sea birds with beaks entangled in 6-pack plastic (so they starved to death) etc. is only a small portion of the huge environmental issue. And this is NOT a "new" proposal / law. For those who follow Mexican news it has been stated for some time that (1) the ban was coming into effect, and (2) when. There are already straws made from avocado seeds --- no idea if you eat them after using! 🤔 And you can be sure the legislators and manufacturers in Mexico and all over the world where these bans are coming have their staff working on "replacement" products 24/7. Meanwhile.... am I concerned about how we are going to dispose of used kitty litter and dog poop? You bet. Under-the counter wet kitchen waste? That too. (No place for compost pile) But we WILL resolve in whatever way is needed and make adjustments. Because we all know voluntary change won't work.... so everyone will have to swallow the hard pill and get on with life.
  8. Yes to that MtnMama. Posters with REWARD / RECOMPENSA are the best!
  9. Excuse me, but OP never made any mention of Uber. So why are the rest of you fixated on Uber? He is a driver. He speaks English. He's available 24/7. End of story!!
  10. If she got down there from the Perico and came from San Juan poor dog must be really disoriented. Best of luck, and please keep us posted.
  11. Yup... very good, polite, and to the point. EXCEPT more often than not it's non-Spanish-speaking foreigners who park in front of our cochera doors.... So the universal circle with diagonal line thru is more effective for us. Yes, our paperleria plastic coated signs disappear from time to time.... but are so cheap to replace it's no big deal
  12. Nobody mentioned costs.....?? From San Antonio.... probably close to the same. Need to go in June so info would be a big help. Gracias
  13. As it turned out, was "Chema" in the excellent key place one block est of main intersection as you enter Chapala----- corner of Morelos and Juarez. 333 954 7700 Reasonable English. He has some kind of wonderful apparatus about the size of a tablet and works magic with it! In this case, he re-programmed the ignition to the new key!! You would have to talk to him for more info..... always there at 5 pm or call or WhatsApp to learn other times available. Does "house calls".
  14. Actually the house were keys NOT in that bunch! Whew!! And a spare set of truck and gas cap keys are already booked to be done Monday. As I said before, NONE of the keys was labelled (on purpose) , so just have to get on with life.
  15. Dr. Jose Miguel Huerta in Guad. Works out of Hospital Del Carmen but most pleased to use (MUCH cheaper but still excellent) Hospital Santissima Trinidad. He and the anesthetist were fully aware of my excessive reaction to anesthetic and used an appropriate drug when my hip was done, and it worked like a charm.
  16. In many cases, yes would have been the first solution. In this one... not so much. One hour route was fast-paced circuitous one (on foot) that covered a lot of different ground..... and would have been really hard to post! He had already walked it over twice, once in each direction, by the time I posted And later he even took our one "super sniffer" dog over the ground again ..... no results. My best guess is they were picked up, found to have no ID of any use, and tossed again.... so could have ended up anywhere in bushes, garbage, etc. Only 3 new keys still to be cut and the it's on to the next thing. But thanks for your thoughts.
  17. Go to the medical appliances store on the carretera OR call Sra. Lidia (she is involved in that store). If they don't have one they will be able to tell you where to look. I have seen them for sale in Plaza de Torres in Guad, but that was quite a few years ago so would not want to send you on a wild goose chase in case store no longer there. Her cell is 333 156 9080
  18. Nope.... no luck. BUT now have info on a guy who can make new keys for any vehicle even when you don't have one to copy!! --- and he did it in an hour...... your choice with or without the fob thing that unlocks the door automatically (Yes, we only ever had the one key.......) STILL would really like to get these keys back if anyone comes across a wad of them.
  19. Lost this morning. Large bunch of keys (no I.D.) including Ford vehicle key (black) and one key on small red plastic tag immediately beside that one. Approx. 12 in all. MOST LIKELY somewhere along Privada de la Paz or else near the Oxxo on carrereta across from Century 21 Chula Vista real estate office. REALLY need these back if at all possible! Any help most appreciated. Telmex land line 766-3580 GRACIAS!
  20. If you have the time to wait just a little for an appointment, and have some Spanish, there are several Salud Digna locations in Guad and the cost will be MUCH less than anywhere else. Perfectly good equipment and discounts if you are over 60 (65??) and same-day results.
  21. Probably depends a lot on the individual dog, and the causes of the condition. As I said, our aged Shepherd could only do about 40% of her normal routine and now she's rarin' to go. And I believe Just FX is only around $200 pesos at Costco (a member needs to confirm this) for 120 caps. Good luck Minnie, which ever way your parents decide to go!
  22. Yes, a LARGE deposit..... which in our experience you will almost be sure to never get back if it gets changed again. I suggest you leave well enough alone and use TelMex bill if you need proof of residence. We have done this with last 2 (rented) houses and since we keep the bills current, no problem for anyone. But take SAME DAY meter reading if you go this route.
