  1. No, I actually took a look at the drivers and make a very unscientific decision as to nationality.
  2. Not trying to tank someone's sale but.... why would I buy a 3500 pesos 800 receiver that will be useless in Mexico sometime in 2024? Am I missing something?
  3. I'm not suggesting that living in Joco isn't an OK alternative but it is not necessary to live THAT far west if escaping the traffic is your 'only' goal. Pretty much anywhere from Villa Nova-west, PLUS also not having the 'Walmart' area as your daily goal would be fine IMO. From there one can easily get into Ajijic Centro using Ocampo in those hours when the carretera is at its worse. Additionally just be aware of the 'good traffic hours' and use the carretera at that time if one needs to go farther east. Also, the Riberas/San Antonio area over the years has 'matured' to the extent that they have a lot of the amenities that you might be referring to AND the traffic from Walmart east is not problematic like it is Walmart west. For ME... YMMV.... the traffic is just a mental hurdle. One that I can choose to let bother me or not. My choice. Other mindsets, unlike mine, are OK but there are mental consequences me thinks.
  4. It will not take you that long pretty much no matter when you drive it. At certain times east-bound traffic starts stacking up around Yves Restaurant... stop and go through town all the way to Superlake. From there flows pretty good to west side of Chapala. The light in Chapala gets backed up for several blocks. I'm going to guess that worse case is 25 minutes. YMMV
  5. Google shows it to be Colchonera del Descanso. You can't miss it; right at the signal lite.
  6. ... an alternative is to burn them, maybe in your outdoor fire pit if you have one or a place in your yard or BBQ pit. Friends have been doing this for years.
  7. .... "Amazon is going to stop supporting Android in 2024" While this has been rumored for quite a while, I'm not sure it will happen then and even if it does it will not cause my Fire TV Stick to quit working immediately, right? Having said that, does the service you talked about liking work on the latest Fire TV Stick 4K? Gracias
  8. Elon's Starlink or streaming 'something'. Or wait a bit and see how the new Kiwisat satellite works out in Mexico.
  9. Is fiber available at your casa? Might want to consider switching.
  10. If I am not mistaken, Laredo Bridge I is not commonly used for major vehicle traffic, Sentri only. Bridge II is the major passage bridge and the picture (when I looked at it at 5PM) clearly showed a large backup coming into Laredo from Mexico and 'nothing' going south into Mexico. Bridge III is the World Trade Bridge, Commercial/trucks only. Bridge IV is commonly referred to by its "Colombia Solidarity" crossing name... the eazi-peazy crossing. https://bwt.cbp.gov/ViewAllPorts.html?com=1&pas=1&ped=1&plist=2304 (but remember, these are coming INTO the US, not going into Mexico which is what the OP was asking about).
  11. I had not been down in the summer for quite a while....only winters. So when I came down this past August I expected... due to low season.... to be able to easily drive from west side to east side and visa versa. WRONG! There was not an appreciable difference regardless of the season/month. I also did an unscientific test to place 'blame' on the cause of all the traffic .... counting the number of gringos vs Mexicans driving the carretera. General consensus has 'always' been that it is the gringos that are moving in and causing all the snarls. WRONG again. Counting drivers from Walmart to Yves, it was 75% Mexican cars and trucks... and that doesn't even take into consideration all the motorcycles.
  12. WOW! Of course that involved a bit of service I suspect.... bought it, made a housecall, took exchange back to LTH.
  13. There can be all kinds of stories of 'how I did it and didn't get caught', but as Mostlylost says... it's ILLEGAL. Caveat Emptor
  14. Did it get moved/open next to the French Bakery in west Ajijic? Any reviews?
  15. So did La Fiesta open up at the new location next to the French Bakery? Any reviews?
  16. I don't know if there is any certain day that is better or worse right around Christmas. Christmas is on a Monday this year so I would say to avoid any day in the preceding week.
  17. Yep, like us with the Colorado Rockies MLB team. Made it to the Series once and got eliminated in 4 games! Never close again. Owner has NO money. But the Avalanche hockey and now the Nuggets BB teams make up for it in spades.
  18. That's a long time to wait for a championship team to gel.....
  19. I did not see LarryA suggesting he was opposed to paying a markup for his purchases there but merely asking some questions. I did see him calling them "great stores" 'tho.
  20. I was referring to the FB Marketplace ads that Kiko listed....
