  3. See here: https://www.mexperience.com/how-safe-is-your-cash-in-mexico/ For a list of banks with IPAB insurance: https://www.gob.mx/ipab/acciones-y-programas/bancos-con-productos-protegidos-por-el-ipab Most bank websites show specifically which accounts are covered. For e.g., Intercam shows this: https://www.intercam.com.mx/inicio/productos-protegidos-por-el-ipab/

  4. you guys have to be joking about English being difficult, try an indigenous language here or Chinese, Arabic Japanese or Fin or many other languages that are way more difficult to learn than English.. Tere is a reason is the first language people learn.. it is flexible , has poor vocabulary and simple grammar . You can make words or exprssions that people will understand with prepositions and puttng words together , you do not have that flexibility in many languages and this is why English is taking over many other languages,

  6. I am SO glad that I don't have to learn English as a second language. Letter combinations and pronunciations can be so different depending on the word.

  7. They moved us and a HUGE houseful of furniture Wed 23 March. Veronica (office lady) is overwhelmed with client load and owners are currently NOB. Also she sometimes doesn't get there in a.m. until closer to 10:00. Suggest dropping by is a good idea. By the way they did a SUPER job.

  8. Most New Balance shoes, except for sandals, have the Mexican size in cm as well as the US size on the underside of the shoe tongue. Mine are 10 and 28. There are instances where 1/2 sizes are not available (for instance in either 9 1/2 or 27 1/2 for instance. Just not as common here i guess. But if you find a cm size in a New Balance shoe you currently have try ordering that size again in cm and it should work. There is a variance in sizes between brands so it becomes a bit more of a crap shoot if you don't have a shoe to go by. Alan

  9. An important thing to understand about driving a Mexican plated vehicle in the US is what mostlylost said.... " I have never found a way to buy collision/comprehensive." Buying a Mexican plated vehicle and driving it back and forth between Georgia and Mexico... and also staying in the US for many months WITHOUT collision and/or comprehensive insurance is not my idea of a "good idea". YMMV of course.

  10. If what you say is true then this information regarding the government is wrong? The Institute for the Protection of Bank Savings (IPAB) was created 18 years ago. (https://www.gob.mx/ipab/) The banks are the financial entities that have a deposit insurance backed by the government, but what are the products protected by the IPAB? -Savings accounts -Debit -Check account – Payroll account -Investments will pay with liquidatable yield at expiration -Deposit certificates The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) states that the equivalent of 400 thousand Units of Investment, approximately two million 58 thousand pesos, per individual or company, and bank can be covered. https://www.condusef.gob.mx/

  11. I also have found New Balance is the only brand that has a good selection (for really wide feet) of shoes that are comfortable for me. I have bought so many through the years that I'm comfortable buying them online. I just go on Amazon Mexico and have them delivered in just a few days. I checked the store in Guad and they had nothing in stock of my size so be sure to check before heading into the city. Their prices were basically the same as online. I did find that online prices can vary according to size based (I think) on popularity and availability... Alan

  12. If you don't want to pay the hefty price for New Balance, try a Mexican equivalent Flexi brand shoes. I find them to be super comfortable and long lasting. What do others here think about Flexi?

  14. That statement is totally false. All bank fees associated with an account are clearly spelled out in the account documentation. They don't and legally can't "apply fees as they wish"

  15. I have been stopped more than once in the USA. They ask for license, registration & proof of insurance. Never have I (or any of my Mexican relatives) been asked for anything else. One Texas trooper when he saw my license didn't even ask for my reg or ins, just said please slow down. Depending on the state they can not legally ask for nationality or legal status. I doubt that very many state or local police have any idea of the federal rules for the temporary importation of a vehicle for personal use. Literally tens of thousands of Mexican plated vehicles enter the USA on a daily basis.
