Zeb
I was under the impression that wired deposits into a Mexican bank account was not taxed and that a cash deposit was taxed. I was just charged 16% IVA on an inbound international wire from a US bank account. Is this allowed? I am editing this post as evidently I was mistaken. The tax was added to the commission that was charged for a wire transfer. I suppose they have to tax the commission?
El Cartero
Interesting, what bank charged you? Who told you this and what did he/she say when you asked about it. My impression is the same as yours.
RVGRINGO
The IVA was charged on a service fee (commission) for sending the wire, not on the money sent.
conejorapido
RV is correct and at Bancomer ( I don't know about other banks) there is always a charge for an incoming international transfer and there is always IVA on it.

This was my error. That's why I edited my original post.

How much commission do they charge? Thanks in advance.
