  1. IN case anyone cares, they closed the bank section around 10:30 this morning due to CoV. Thank goddess I was already in the door.... two small but super-important things. Took until 11:30 to get that done. Lady didn't know if would re-open tomorrow and was sending desperate people to the branch at the Airport. For some reason, that one was apparently NOT going to close ?????
  2. Saw one on MercadoLibre (same machine, 2 different vendors). Suggest you also try Amazon.mx if you don't want to go to Guad.
  3. Daniel Jackson Garcia top quality work 376 766 2223 AJijic one block west of plaza by appt. only
  4. Monday morning light fixture over kitchen sink died. Hubby discovered fault was ancient wiring had cracked and given up the ghost. Problem? The inside ceramic part that you screw the light bulb into, and that has wires coming out the back to connect to power was NOT "normal".... in that the wires could not be drawn out and changed (apparently the usual case?). Anyway, he walked, then drove, to 4 different ferreterias Monday. NOBODY could help. We were on the point of thinking might have to buy new one but that idea came with own set of issues (only relevant to this house). Today I loaded up ALL the bits belonging to the entire fixture and went to the store noted. Sr. Luis Horacio took one look, asked someone to bring him something, sat at his desk and took apart some other necessary connections, put in the new identical part, fixed the whole thing like new.... and charged me a whopping 30 pesos! Plus we had a nice chat while he worked. πŸ˜„ So for those who live in older houses (this one 32) give him a try before you resort to more costly solutions. And the moral of this story? Never send a man to do what a woman can do better! LOL LOL LOL
  5. I've been at that pit when searching for gravel I did NOT find there. The road is long, goes up a lot, and it's easy to get lost! They had very little "selection" and seem to be a place where private truckers come to get loads. They had no delivery service even if I had found what I wanted. Suggest you talk to the people behind Pemex in Ajijic (run by big store to west of El Barco pub in middle of that upper lateral). They're most accommodating and might be able to get what you want..... or offer a better solution (see WideSky)
  6. Lucky you to have so much extra time on your hands
  7. Well guys, not all of us got to take typing in high school. In my case, father insisted Latin was much more valuable...... so being not being a 10-finger typist, or anything close, I choose to use abbreviations whenever they will be understood. And now.... back to topic 😊
  8. I PRESUME you mean to keep it here? Go to Forum "Customs and Immigration", then to page 4. Look for the topic about importing vehicles and read the entire thing.
  9. Unless things have really changed, your car may not qualify to come here. Age, type (sedan, SUV, etc), "luxury" or not, and a bunch of other things all used to come into effect, and many who had already brought cars here found they could not "legalize" them. Do your homework now!
  10. Of course they get nasty.... since from their point of view you are an illegal user if outside Canada.
  11. In our case they brought THEIR line from the street to our SE roof corner. (Main TM line connected at N-Central part below roof level. ) Telmex had put a connection in that same SE corner inside ( can't remember how it got there ) when they installed NEW line 10 years ago ONLY to be used for their modem. TP drilled their own hole below the TM box for their own cable (to their modem). I don't exactly know where Wizz came into the house, but on the main floor they ignored that co-axial cable as if it wasn't there . Upstairs, after bringing their own white cable to the TV, I asked if they could shove the Wizz coaxial cable back into the wall where it came out and they obliged.
  12. TP explained to me they do not touch OR make use of any other company's lines, cables, holes in walls or anything else. Hence Wizz and Telmex sources cut but not used.
  13. Doubt it. Used Skype to call sister in Canada today and she didn't answer because showed "unknown number" and she thought it was a telemarketer.
  14. So you're saying there should NOT be hte various Forum sections already in place? πŸ€” (Ajijic, Furry Friends, Mexico, etc etc) If topics had not been so frequently hijacked and turned into something they were not, guessing the mods would have left things alone. So take yourself off to All Things CoVid and speak out all you want...... and when you have something to say about NON-CoV topics, chat away!
  15. And a VERY big GRACIAS for starting a new CoV - only forum πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  16. These words means she's a Specialist in Oral Surgery ....... as opposed to well-qualified but "regular" dentist. Happy for you. They call in similar specialist at Dental Express (separate appointment) when needed but don't know his name, only that he's worked with hubbie twice. And Oral Surgeons do non-dental things too. Inside of my cheek biopsied by one for non-dental related immune-system thing.
  17. Banamex all across Mexico is going to be sold off by CitiGroup (controlling interest). NOTHING to do with why Chapala branch has been /still is? closed.
  18. And my husband is in the middle of a complicated situation there and is being handled very professionally and well. Ask for Dr. Carlos.
  19. With GREAT difficulty. Hubbie's recent experience a testimony to same. Dental Express.... WELL done!
  20. LOL LOL Of course it does, my younger friend. We're of a similar age and come from basically the same place NOB! πŸ˜‰
  21. I had actually gone to a friend's house prior, and learned what I needed to know about install, etc. (change of telmex line, their basic TV for Mexican news only, and use of my Firestick) The part about getting to the 2nd floor had been intended on Day One, but rejected when I learned what was involved (their TV only). But after 2 weeks of "pondering", I figured it out enough to ask them to come back and do it..... WITH my input. You can't begin to imagine what they were thinking.....and they actually thanked me for the ideas (to be used in future).
  22. Realize the cow is already out and the barn door closed, but frankly amazed you let the first crew get by with ".....the tech deciding to drape the cable along a railing on our upstairs veranda. .........". And you did not speak up at that point and say "WAIT a minute here! What gives? "? Or are you one of those who simply leaves people to their own devices and complains later? My first install was longer than they estimated because I followed them around as they went, pointing out when something was not to my satisfaction..... until it WAS...... still both sides with a smile. After 2 weeks when I opted for 2nd (TP) TV service to upstairs room, even tho' I told them where to put the cable along the way from modem, via 2 walls in LR on way to opposite corner, they began by doing it differently. "Hold up there , cowboys. Did you not hear what I said?" Showed them again... and why ...... voila, with a smile on their face. And when it came time to put the hole in the main floor ceiling / upstairs tile floor, had to go with the driller guy and point out a hole in the (wide) grout was less likely to damage anything than a hole in the middle of a tile..... but had to be done from UPSTAIRS to main (boveda) becasue going down (main) to up (as he was going to do) would mean a crap shoot on what would happen to upper floor tiles. Easy-peasy. Little things like.... "wait guys, you don't NEED to leave 10 extra feet of your white cable coiled up under my desk because you cut it too long....... haul it back, cut it off, and keep a useful piece for somewhere else" , "hey guys, you've left me a HUGE mess of tangled computer wires under here that will be cat magnets, so give me a minute to re-arrange them", and so on made for a rather harrowing but altogether good time. (Maybe an aged gringa, on her back on the floor under the desk, having them hand me various wires so I could bundle them was a funnier sight than they usually see 😜?) And now when I see them on the street, or pass by in my car, there's always a wave and a friendly hello.... and maybe even a few words of a chat.
  23. It's specialty Lenten thing, so don't be holding your breath just yet.......
  24. Outside WM today I asked about Chapala Haciendas and lady said "starting this month". Well, this month is move than half over, but at least it's progress. Sorry, didn't think to ask about Brisas
