  1. The pump in Las Salvias does not serve your street.....
  2. Fred, my heart goes out to you. In addition to your wife, please make sure that YOU are getting some help/relief. Your mental and physical health is important now as never before.
  3. Lou, what you say about Mexican homes, with their thick 'concrete' walls as opposed to NOB stick built homes, is obviously true. But not everyone here is prepared to do what you have done vis a vie ethernet wiring throughout. And you are a 'pro' whereas most folks are neophytes. I had, in a very large concrete home, good success installing a Google Mesh system. I did take care to place the 3 'slave' cubes as best I could with respect to walls vs the base unit. My speed tests/ping in all portions of that large house are very acceptable. As always, YMMV
  4. ... another benefit of using fiber, no?
  5. I find that the best long term solution for my sanity is to block the person who 'offends' me. This protects me in two ways.... I don't see their comments and they can't contact me. Out of sight, out of mind. End of story. No more drama.
  6. There are several organic markets weekly and otherwise some stores sell at least some of the things you asked about... Ask around when you arrive.
  7. Asking for a friend... What is your experience streaming 'commercial US TV service' Lakeside.... things like Hulu or YouTubeTV or SlingTV? Not interested in knowing about 'technical' ways to get TV programs 'clandestinely' by programming say an Amazon Fire TV stick UNLESS it is rock solid and pretty easy to use by a non-technical person and provides most of the TV capabilities as listed below. Interested in getting things like CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, BBC, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, Nature, Discovery, maybe some movies, etc etc along with some sports (ESPN?). I am assuming one must have either a smart TV or a 'dongle' to attach with HDMI to an older TV, no? And is not a VPN required? Roughly, what is the monthly cost? I know that a good Internet download speed is required... probably someone's fiber being best. Is the lowest Telmex fiber speed acceptable... personal experience with that appreciated. Thanks for considering sharing your experiences with me.
  8. Thanks all. I am aware of the possibilities if one adds a good router or mesh to the mix. I should have stated that I was asking solely about the capabilities/strength of the 'new' stand alone Telmex fiber modem's wifi. Thanks again....
  9. So you are suggesting that Calle Allen Lloyd will be extended north to intersect the Libramiento 'somewhere around/just east of the entrance to Vista Alegre? For that to be effective would there not have to be a new traffic signal there? I know that I am in the minority here but.... I just don't find the 'Walmart' intersection to be such a nightmare... considering the amount of cars in general on the road nowadays. Both now and in the high season (which I don't see much difference any more!). Of course it is worse than it was 10 years ago, but what isn't.
  10. Any personal experience about the wifi signal outside. For example can I/how far may I expect to pick up a good signal out on the patio maybe 100' away? Through a sliding glass door, not a thick wall. Gracias
  11. Anecdotal answer: To my knowledge traffic no longer and hasn't for a long time gone directly through downtown Jocotopec.... coming into town from El Change, traffic diverts south and then west on a 2-way street. I recently, going east-west, took the bypass over the hill around noon time. Not much traffic going either way. I came back into Joco and drove west-east on Vicente Guerrero and then that southern street route.... not directly through centro Joco. Some traffic... and lights of course..... but certainly nothing out of the ordinary. One trip does not a statement about traffic in Joco... I could have hit the sweet spot... but
  12. I too have to correct this statement..... and this is true at this moment in time, not just the winter. East bound if OFTEN/daily stopped... bumper to bumper starting around Ives restaurant. And it continues that way, like Natasha says, until approaching La Floresta. Westbound traffic is often that way too... Several times this week I was in basically stop and go traffic from about Panino's restaurant in San Antonio until I turned off the road around Strom Movers in west Ajijic. I was not expecting to see this in the summer also! I think it just proves that the serious traffic problem is NOT just gringo-caused but is indicative of the change in vehicle ownership and commercial traffic in general at Lakeside.
  13. Hopefully this will be a 'settling' place for him. Not the best spot for any parking but....
  14. In my part of the US, it is taboo to purchase some appliances from both LG and Samsung. Refrigerators especially. As Jim B suggested, some of their product lines are OK but one just needs to do some research prior to buying.... well anything I guess!, but..... certain products.
  15. Yep, that's Texas and Walmart for you! Even cheaper at Costco but of course that takes an account with them. Same with Sam's Club. In general, here in Colorado, I'm paying $3.79 at most places unless I see a truck stop on the Interstate having a gas war with their neighbors. Two weeks ago at one of those I paid $3.09! There were at least 45 cars from a neighboring town trying to use about 8 pumps! Cluster F if you get my drift.
  16. Regular gas varies in the US. Lowest in Mississippi, highest in California. Probably averages $3.80/gal
  17. ... also remember that once you arrive in Chapala and start your process with them, you may NOT leave Mexico until you have your Temporal visa.
  18. ...and to be technically correct, 1 gallon equals 3.785 liters, not 4.
