WideSky
Moderators, is there a way to keep old posts for informational purposes but lock them from further commenting and being dragged to the forefront. Most of them contain outdated or inaccurate information. As you know businesses and services can be very fluid here particularly in the off season. Surely your technical person can write a code to do it automatically. I know it can be done. 1
cedros
That is not necessary. That is not necessary
moderator-2
At this point in time the only remedy is to lock or delete as they appear. Agree it is a nuisance. It is very easy to start new threads. Folks, please do not drag up old threads whose topics may only be peripherally germane and whose information is definitely dated.
Ferret
IF someone finds an old thread which they wish to find more about, may I suggest that they put the link to the old thread in their NEW thread. In that way, people have the choice of reading the old thread but recognize that the info is old but a new question has been asked regarding it. edited to add: It is easy to put a link into a thread. Put your cursor over the http address at the top of the page. Left click and it will turn blue. Then right click and choose "copy". Start your new thread and put your cursor where you want the link to go. Then, right click and choose "paste"
Bisbee Gal
I found this at the website of the company that hosts this forum (Invision). Archiving Under the Settings area for Forums you will find an Archiving option. If you have a very large site, it can be beneficial to reduce the size of the database table storing posts. Archiving topics is an alternative to deleting which allows them to still exist and be viewed as normal, but moves them to a separate database table.
