N2Futur
Does anyone know where to purchase water softener salt? We're down to our last 40lb bag of Morton's (which we brought down from NOB)... apparently not available in Melaque...
Fred Habacht
Contact TIO BOB. He has a sup0ply store in Ajijic and his prices for salt was always considered very fair . You also reach him on TOB as he doesn't post here much.
El Saltos
I don't think H2Ole' services Melaque! You'll likely have to go to Manzanillo.
John Shrall
In Guayabitos I find salt at a store that sells pool supplies. It normally won't be the big pellets in the yellow bag but the Mexican brand more resembling rock salt works just fine.
bmh
any pool place has salt for water softener or can get it.
Sea
Yes. As people have said, the cheapest salt can be used for water softener. There are special types that are more expensive, but the extra expense is unnecessary. Available at pool maintenance and supply places.

Sea
The OP lives in Melaque. Lakeside locations probably aren't helpful.
N2Futur
We don't mind a trip up to Ajijic (it's still very hot down here!). Thank you for all your responses!
lcscats
FYI I find the pellets don't clump up in my storage box as easily as the rock salt. This may not effect anyone else. Try the rock salt and see if it works well in your storage box if not use pellets right? Do others have problems with the rock salt clumping up in storage box? Also title was water softener salt so even if the person is at the coast others reading this locally will get good info on locations to buy salt so the posts were appropriate in my opinion. I thought about it before I posted what I posted Sea.
