Anzalduas to Ajijic

Driving back to Lakeside in ten days or so.  I like to cross at the Anzalduas bridge at Pharr.  Thinking of crossing the morning of 8/29, driving to SLP and spending the night and on to Ajijic on the 30th.  Haven't made the drive in several years.  Don't want to overnight in Matehuala.  Any alternate suggestions would be appreciated or any advice from a recent trip.  Thanks.

I usually cross the afternoon before, get my paperwork done and return and stay overnight on the US side. In the morning I’m at the bridge at 6am when they open.  I usually get the green light and then just drive on through. I’m in Chapala by nightfall.

That will work in the 'summer' but short days make difficult (arrive by nightfall) in the throes of winter. 

Bojackson are you aware that there is a 'new' western cuota "bypass' around SLP? 49D. Easier/better than the way 'we used to go'.

...got any hotel recommendations there without having to go 'into town'?  I prefer to take the western 49D bypass off of 57.

There aren't any.  Stay in town and take the old 80D bypass thru the industrial area.
