  1. We have flown in and out of GDL several times (on 3 different airlines) since this form was instituted. No one has ever asked for it when we ARRIVE at GDL. We do need to show it at Security when we DEPART from GDL My **guess** is that you will need it at PVR when you DEPART at Security as I have been told the form is needed for domestic flights within Mexico, again, for DEPARTURES. fyi, you can print a blank form now and have it ready when needed. Or you can access from your phone, get a QR code. If you want to err on side of caution, print a few blanks in case PVR asks for it for your arrival. Here is printable form,
  2. When you do a cut and paste of a picture, it will look fine to YOU. But only to YOU, when logged in. Log out, look at your post and the pic won't be seen. Best bet is to: Save the pic as an image on your device, then add it to your post via the Drag File Here or Choose Files option shown just below where you are posting.
  3. My best advice for Airbnb is to READ every single review, make sure there are some recent ones. Most hosts are happy to answer q's (using the contact host button as described above). Have rented all over MX and the rest of the world with very few disappointments out of at least one hundred rentals. Being local you may be able to check for hazards such as proximity to bars, eventos, traffic noise, etc.
  4. Here is an Airbnb search using 40 USD as max. Contact the most promising and they will likely let you know the local address and perhaps see the room since you are a local. https://www.airbnb.com/s/Ajijic--Mexico/homes?adults=1&place_id=ChIJtSinkExBL4QRY52kBXEK1rg&refinement_paths[]=%2Fhomes&tab_id=home_tab&query=Ajijic%2C Mexico&flexible_trip_dates[]=december&flexible_trip_dates[]=november&flexible_trip_lengths[]=weekend_trip&date_picker_type=calendar&price_max=40&search_type=filter_change
  5. What you've quoted applies to AIR travel or to LAND crossing by NON-US citizens. Here's rule for US citizens returning by LAND (or sea), https://www.dhs.gov/news/2021/10/29/frequently-asked-questions-guidance-travelers-enter-us Q: Do U.S. citizens need proof of vaccination to return to the U.S. via land POEs and ferry terminals? A: Vaccination requirements do not apply to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents, or anyone crossing for an essential reason.
  6. @cookj5 Are you certain you (assuming you are a US citizen) need a test or even proof of vax, to return to US by LAND?? https://www.usa.gov/americans-abroad#item-34802 U.S. Citizens Returning to the U.S. by Land or Sea U.S. citizens traveling to the U.S. by land or sea aren't required to get tested for COVID-19 or show their vaccination status before entering the U.S. Check with the U.S. embassy travel fact sheets for Canada and Mexico to stay aware of updates to travel requirements. Also check the COVID-19 rules in the city or state where you are entering the U.S. And here, https://mx.usembassy.gov/travel-restrictions-fact-sheet/ Q: What about U.S. citizens and dual nationals who live abroad, will they be able to cross? A: Yes, this action does not prevent U.S. citizens from returning home. 7. Details here, https://www.facebook.com/AlegrateChapala/posts/2130573017096265 Announcement also on FB pages of local newspapers Pagina and Seminario Laguna. I am no longer going to provide texts from FB for non-users. I did that yesterday and it turned into a pizzing contest and I deleted the thread that I had started. I like to be helpful but not to the point where the messenger gets shot.
  8. @Zeb Define economical. And desired location. fyi, depending on length of stay, sometimes an Airbnb can be cheaper.

  10. In the US when a person dies the funeral home or crematorium is required to notify the SSA. They do that almost immediately; I can attest to that after handling or helping with the estates of 2 parents and 2 in-laws. It is very difficult to conceal the death of someone in the US....unless they die at home and you bury them in your backyard.
  11. Most banks and other financial institutions use free USPS software that ID mail forwarding addresses as CMRA's. Commercial Mail Receiving Agents. They don't care for those addresses. Getting harder and harder for US expats between this and the Patriot Act. One ray of light are US Credit Unions. The OP is a Federal Retiree and likely eligible for one or more CU's to join. They don't care about foreign addresses or CMRA's.
  12. Per SSA website as of December 2020, number of retired workers receiving benefits by age. https://www.ssa.gov/oact/progdata/byage.html Age 62 - 69 19.07 million Age 70 - 84 29.67 million Age 85 plus 5.77 million

China tries confiscating coal from households. By Eva Dou Today at 2:00 a.m. EDT On a crisp Saturday morning last month, men in the black jackets favored by local Chinese officials were going door to door. They were checking to make sure villagers in Tangshan’s Fengrun district — one of China’s smoggiest spots — had quit burning coal for heat. “We must ensure that ‘not one fire burns, not one wisp of smoke wafts, not one black speck remains,’ ” the Fengrun Economy and Environmental Bureau declared, according to an account of the operation it published. After knocking on 596 doors, the officials had turned up nearly a ton of unprocessed coal and nine tons of briquettes, and warned residents of the steelmaking hub that burning coal was no longer allowed.

  19. Benefits of year round DST https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/u-s-senators-unveil-bill-to-make-daylight-saving-time-permanent-as-more-states-try-to-end-time-changes/ U.S. senators unveil bill to make daylight saving time permanent as more states try to end time changes The legislation was introduced by Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, Roy Blunt, R-Missouri, Sheldon Whitehouse, D-Rhode Island, Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Mississippi, Rick Scott, R-Florida, and Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts. So far, 15 states have seen similar laws, resolutions, or voter initiatives approved to make DST permanent, according to the release. Those states are: Arkansas, Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. And for the states trying to abolish time changes, therein lies the roadblock: the U.S. government. That’s because for the changes to take effect, a federal statute must first be changed — which is precisely what “The Sunshine Protection” seeks to accomplish. “Springing forward and falling back year after year only creates unnecessary confusion while harming Americans’ health and our economy,” Sen. Wyden said in the release. “Making Daylight Saving permanent would give folks an hour back of sunshine during the winter months when we need it most.” “Studies have found year-round Daylight Saving Time would improve public health, public safety, and mental health– especially important during this cold and dark COVID winter,” Sen. Markey said in the release. Implementing year-round time change has been found to reduce cardiac issues, stroke, seasonal depression and childhood obesity, according to the release. Other potential effects include a decrease in the number of car crashes, which see brief spikes at the start of DST, likely the result of people losing sleep with the loss of an hour, according to research. Other studies have shown that daylight saving time benefits the economy, lessens energy usage and even reduces the number of robberies, according to the fact sheet. “The public safety improvements, economic benefits, and the wellbeing of the American people are all excellent and credible reasons to embrace year-long Daylight Saving Time,” Sen. Hyde-Smith said in the release.
  20. @MainecoonsWhy do you hate DST???? You really prefer it when it gets dark earlier??? There may be some confusion....I think most folks hate the CLOCK CHANGING. And most people like longer daylight hours and most dislike when it gets dark at 6pm. The movement is to adopt DST year round. And ditch Standard Time. Having DST year round means NO clock changing, and LONGER daylight hours.
  21. I love DST....hate when we go back to shorter evening hours. DST should be year-round, with no clock changing. There is a lot of support for making DST permanent in the US. At least 15 states have approved moving to year-round DST, but all must await Federal action. https://www.fsunews.com/story/news/2021/03/21/could-u-s-move-year-round-daylight-saving-time/4788562001/
