  1. Monthly income is just one way to obtain a Visa. Showing 6 continuous months of bank statements equaling, I believe now, about $50,000 US gets one the prize also. While many retired folks may not have $84,000 of 'income' they do have 'savings' that would more than qualify them.
  2. Are we in for some highs in the 60s and not the 70s?
  3. Good first step. Plug something like a Amazon Firetv stick into that HDMI port and voila your TV will be 'smart'. Then the fun begins as one must then figure out what all and how to stream what stuff to the TV. It's not a slam dunk thing. If you are not very techo it probably would be smart to enlist the help of an assistant. Just saying.....

    Lousiana

... as in Louisiana. King Louis and Queen Anne of France. Thanks for the tip
  5. Yes, special case. There is a way as, Mostlylost pointed out, to take care of a demobilized vehicle that cannot drive back to the border ...
  6. Still down. Telmex did not show up yesterday (he said laughing!). This morning for sure, he said trying to amuse himself.
  7. Just for clarification, "Spencer's office" would be the source of paperwork to make the journey to the border legal for your buyer. He does not provide a buyer... that's something that you will have to work on finding. And generally folks here are not looking to buy a US plated car and have to drive it to the border, somehow get a title so they could bring it back here. There are/were folks here that would get the vehicle out of Mexico for a fee plus expenses. You would get the required paperwork... generally through Spencer... and then they drive it to San Antonio and sell it to a dealer at wholesale. They they fly back to GDL with your money. Not cheap. P.S. Yes, of course you may purchase a vehicle outside of Jalisco and then get it registered in Jalisco. And certainly with a Permanente or Temporal visa. I have just heard that the process of buying elsewhere and then transferring the title to Jalisco is harder than just buying one already titled in Jalisco. Maybe Mostlylost can address that for you. P.P.S. Someone 'selling' a US plated vehicle while in Mexico and to stay in Mexico: That sale is not recognized by Mexico... they won't even be aware of the 'sale'....and the car still belongs to you as far as they are concerned. Fast forward to a wreck by the new owner... even years later... and guess who they will come after.
  8. LarryA, one can do anything anywhere that is illegal but the real question is... why take the chance. Just because you don't know of bad experiences doesn't mean that there aren't any. I know of some. And yes, it is possible/all right to buy and immediately take the car out of Mexico. In the last 10 years I have done this over 20 times, using Spencer when necessary for a Carta Poder and/or a Retorno Seguro if there is an expired TIP or the owner has turned Permanente making the vehicle illegal to be in Mexico. The OP can do what they wish.... and I doubt they wish to 'test the illegal waters'... but IMO it is not close to being a reasonable option when there are plenty of Jalisco plated vehicles to purchase WITHOUT any drama hanging over one's head.
  9. Thanks. I have done the reboot... last night and this morning. Nada. They have been called. Thanks to all....
  10. It is mine only. Casita here OK.
  11. Still down. What is number to call them to report an outage in English por favor?
  12. One can't sell a foreign plated vehicle in Mexico. It must be removed and permit cancelled at the border. Once in the US it could then be purchased but logistics would make it hard to bring back into the US.... a non-Texas or Arizona resident could not title/register it there so how does one get another Mexican permit as that requires registration paperwork by new owner. There is a work-around... South Dakota plates... but that would require one to stay at the border for at least a week waiting for that process/title to be "mailed" to one at the border. Best to just buy a Jalisco plated vehicle.
  13. 5:20 Tuesday Las Salvias West Ajijic.
  14. He did visit so sees the 'difficulty'... or not.... to install. The quote was 2500 pesos to de-install a 40 Gallon tank and install another one of similar size. Assuming the job would take 3 hours... which I think is plenty of time and maybe too much.... that would make the labor the equivalent of $50 US/hour.... $70 if it is a 2-hour job. Another quote was to flush the existing tank and replace the regulator. The rate was 2300 pesos on that job. I have personally replaced a regulator before so have some idea of effort/time. I've 'watched' a US plumber replace an old tank several times over the years so have some idea of effort required. I am NOT trying to be a cheap scape but am just thinking that his labor rate may be way too high. Thanks P.S. I do not speak Spanish but have access to someone who does. Thanks for offering the numbers of someone else.
  15. I'm considering a new hot water heater.... or just fixing the old one's regulator. I'm pretty confident that I know what it takes, hours-wise, to do either. The WH has excellent access outside. I have been quoted, from a local 'plumber', a labor charge that I think is waaaay high. While I am NOT against paying a reasonable/good rate to a competent person I am not wanting to get fleeced. Has anyone had this done lately? Do you remember what the approximate labor rate was? Maybe it is just 'me' that is uninformed.... Gracias
  16. No, she is asking about the WEST location... Gringal it is not far...just past the Tuesday market and right at the street going down into Villa Lucerna.
  17. I assume everyone is experiencing this on the chapala.com webboard. Sometimes, but rarely, instantaneous. Often 5-10 seconds. But all too often 15-30 seconds. Then there is the "I'm not going to answer your inquiry for a while so just do something else" type of response. I use several other Boards and NONE have this kind of erratic performance on a regular basis... actually hardly any on an irregular basis. Moderators: Has this been discussed with Administration? P.S. It took 15 seconds for this Post to happen. P.P.S. But the edit for the above P.S. was instantaneous!
  18. Probably what he did was take Bridge I into Laredo. "Going under the public roadway" could have been going under Bridge II on Av. Luis Donaldo Colosio to reach the Mexican side of Bridge I. Bridge 1 is not the normal route across... became a SENTRI only crossing about 5 years ago. A local taxi would qualify to cross there but not the bus.
  19. Has anyone purchased locally a new, plain propane 40 gal hot water heater lately? Not the 'on demand' kind! Where? General cost? Gracias
  20. I have lateral epicondylitis, or tennis elbow, and cortisone once in the past has helped. Has anyone had this shot locally? Where and roughly the cost. Gracias.
