Dostortas
Friends left Mexico by land, crossing at Nuevo Laredo. They got lost and looped around several times trying to find the correct bridge, in their confusion, they did not visit immigration before they left Mexico. They are permanent residents here returning to Mexico by air. Anyone know what the re-entry process might look like for them? I suggested they call their immigration attorney and ask but they’re both very hard of hearing and not very tech savvy. Thanks in advance for your guidance! jrod
The process has recently been simplified. By air, flying into Guadalajara, officials no longer ask for the FMM form upon arrival into Mexico. Your friends, however, will be asked for the flight number, so they need to know that information and give it to the INM agent, who will then stamp and initial their passports upon the return. 1
Brian Dalziel
Copy of an advisory concerning this matter issued by the U.S. Embassy on 4 October 2022.
Mostlylost
Noticed October 5 in GDL they were not collecting FMM,s just stamping passports. For Mexican citizens the form Formato Estadístico para Mexicanos (FEM) was required by the airline when departing Mexico but was not required upon return on October
