JRPJR
I haven’t done this in a couple of years. I know there has been a good deal of road work done so I’m wondering what the best (fastest) route might be. TIA
Mostlylost
Head towards GDL. Take the return after milagros de Dalilia buritos and head back toward Chapala. Enter the Macrolibramiento sur to HWY 15D north. Atfter Ixtlan del Rio the new cuota to Compostella. From there same as before. Plot on it on google maps in 1 minute. https://www.google.com/maps
slainte39
I prefer the Mascota route, same time bur much cheaper, no tolls, less gasoline. Save about 700 pesos each way.
Rassabossa
If you take the Mascota route there is a small place that serves some of the best food I have ever had. It is called "Comida Casera" Loncheria and is on the outskirts of Mascota across from the Pemex. No ingles spoken.

Alfa
There are two Pemex stations in Mascota. To which one are you referring, please?
pappysmarket
Just keep your eyes on the road going down the hill from Mascota. Lots of switchbacks and frequent rock slides. Much better scenery than the cuota (for the passengers at least).
pedro malo
I know this is outside of what's being ask here but have you considered flying? $800 pesos one way with Aeromar from GDL airport and only 55 minutes of travel.

Yes, the last time we flew Aeromar to PV it was actually 28 minutes from wheels up to wheels down.

They said "outskirts" so it must the Pemex on the east end of town just as you are leaving or arriving. We like stopping and eating in San Sebastian, as we have friends that own a restaurant there. Can´t remember what they call it, but it´s a couple of blocks east, past the plaza.

When I drive, I watch the scenery, which makes the passengers watch the road……..LOLOLOL
