LaChula
Is there anywhere Lakeside, or even in Costco/Mega to buy barley except Superlake? Or different kinds of Quinoa? Or different kinds of soy sauce, rice noodles? My corner abarrotes and little "supers" sure don't. I don't bitch about Suoerlake's prices, 'cause they have almost anything I want. God Bless Pancho and his family! If I don't want to pay their prices, i don't buy it, but if it is the only place and I want it, I am happy to get it. Ginger
Doesn't the place next to Gossip's have it? (I can never remember the name.) I'm sure she'd get it for you if not in stock.
Travis
Definitely try El Granero next door to Gossip's. That place is great. And what she doesn't have, she sometimes takes requests and picks it up at the Abastos. She goes once a week, on Fridays, I think. The owner is Adriana (pretty sure on that). Natasha
Barley is "cebada perla" and is very cheap in Abastos (In Guad). They often have it in SuperLake in the "bulk" packages back near the deli meats/cheeses counter. Also El Granero should have it. It's available in Chapala, but the store appears dirty to me and I would not like to take chances there. NOITE: I've had problems with storing uncooked barley here unless kept in freezer. hensley
I get my barley at Abastos also. I store it in the fridge.
maw7815
I bought my barley at El Granero. I don't have it refrigerated. I will now refrigerate it- thanks for the tip. I wanted to make barley soup for these cold days but now it's warming up. maw
miomama
There is a new organic and natural products shop beside the Cellphone store on Juan Alvarez. It is the street on the west side of El Torito. They have Mexico grown Quinoa. I think I also saw Quinoa in El Torito.
