Travis
You'd have to ask Ackerman what he means by "extend a helping hand". (Money? Intel? Expertise? Resources? Support?) He only states clearly where he thinks US help should, and should NOT, be directed. It's not about "pulling the plug" on Mexico, the country. It's about re-directing support to where he thinks it will do the most good.....AWAY from the Federal Government and TO "human rights defenders, investigative journalists, community activists", etc. Ackerman can't be making many friends in the Peña Nieto administration. This is not the first time he has been critical of EPN. It is becoming common for him. Unfortunately for EPN the comments are generally are pretty close to the mark. luvsdawgs
Just a quick FYI, the USA is not the only customer for Mexican drugs, not is it the largest. According to an article I read awhile ago, the biggest exports go from the east coast out to Europe and Africa. Sorry, it was awhile back and I do not have a link.
