Recommended Posts

Does anyone else have a raspy cough, not like broncitis but a crackly breathe? I dont thinki it is rales. One friend who had company here at lakeside had her friend go home and devolped similar symptoms. Another friend today said her throat felt "furry". I am wondering if this might something viral?

Mine started with a head cold and developed into this horrific, violent cough. Have seen 2 doctors, X-rays, medications and almost a month later, it's finally diminishing....

Floradude, this conversation originally came up having dinner with a doctor on momday night. He commented he knew someone with these symptoms and it left him curious. Then the next day someone had the same so he, a doctor, wondered if it is a virus. Just trying to see if there are more.

Maybe this article will help you.

I saw an Ear Nose Throat specialist here. He said the air of Guadalajara and Chapala causes a lot of problems. People move to Guadalajara and then develop these allergies, etc. A lot of dust, pollen and plain old air pollution. Guadalajara is now the most polluted city in Mexico and Latin America.

Guadalajara does have air-quality problems that can affect lung health, but really, Guadalajara comes in at #8 for Mexico.

Official WHO measurements (http://www.who.int/phe/health_topics/outdoorair/databases/en/) and

current air quality measurements (http://aqicn.org/city/mexico/guadalajara/tlaquepaque/)

both say that Mexico City's and 7 other Mexican cities' air pollution are worse than Guadalajara.

Rio de Janeiro and Caracas (and other South American cities) also rank worse than Guadalajara http://www.who.int/gho/phe/outdoor_air_pollution/phe_012.jpg .

Guadalajara does have bad enough air quality to affect lung health,

but it's not the worst in the hemisphere, and fortunately, it's not even in the top 50 worst in the world.

A quick check of official measurements show that Guadalajara is #8 on average in Mexico for air pollution:

Guadalajara 41, Silao 51, Irapuato 55, Leòn 58,

Salamanca 60, Toluca 80, Monterrey 86, Mexico City 93
