  1. With the caveat that I have never seen this Dra for anything.... Dra Justina Jimenez at Clinica de Rehabilitacion Intergral... just past Ives restaurant and Dental Express.... has been mentioned many times on this Board as being knowledgable of PRP (and stem cells in general). Maybe a consultation appointment with her could help you in your quest.

    Good luck.

  2. OP is asking about cataract surgery. There are several options when doing this.... no correction, correction, correction for distance only or for progressive,  toric lenses for astigmatism, etc etc.    It would be impossible to quote a price for all these options, and laser procedures for torn retinas isn't even similar to cataract surgery.

ibarra's suggestion to call the eye center in Chapala for an estimate seems to be the most prudent course of action if one really wants to get a realistic price range.

If the retena has healed I would have the cataract done before going back to Canada. I had recent cataract surgery with Dra Marianna at Quality Cake and was very pleased. I don't remember the cost but it was under $700.

Can we assume that $700 is US dollars and not Canadian nor pesos?

  4. Spoken like a true non-believer. Your choice of course. But just because you wish to call it 'climate religious lies' does not make it so.

I'm not surprised that it is #5. People have a hard time making such an esoteric problem #1. It's not in their face like other everyday problems. But IMO it's real. There's too much good data pointing that way. And if we wait until all the consequences are full bore on us and irreversible.... well we'll see that what was #5 is now #1, but too late to do anything. And I'm sure at that point millions of folks will say 'why didn't someone... the government... do something before it got this bad!

I only have a few stocks.  Smells like a bubble to me.  At this age, I want to be more conservative.

Yes, at my age conservation has far more importance than growth! Like you I have very few actual stocks.

Bubbles come and bubbles go. Your 'smell' might be right but the long term has 'always' been upward.  I can out-wait a bubble (or at least my heirs can!).

The average annualized return of the S&P... last 20 years...was 10.2%. The 'best' way to invest in the S&P500 might be through ETFs. Mine for the last 3 years have been half again more than that performance rate.

If the Mexican CETE can meet this performance, and can be considered safe, it might be a good way to invest one's capital safely. Surely beats the US CD market that is currently hanging out around 5%.

Excellent returns. We are brining more down.   Never know what can happen up north.

This is an interesting comment. Seemingly saying that Mexico is more predictable and stable than the US with respect to investing.

On another note of curiosity.... what is it about Mexico that 'allows' CEDES to pay such a high rate? They are 'guaranteed' by someone, right?

  7. I'm curious....  the US Stock market is and has been on an upward tear. All three major indices are at record highs.... S&P 5-year average return is 12%.

Most investment houses have offerings across the board, US to International.

What is it about Multiva that would offer more diversification or choice than, say, my Schwab account here would not?

  8. For this discussion I think that it is important to go back and look at Kiko's Post on January 15.... the chart. As the old saying goes, 'a picture is worth 1,000 words'.

To me, the comment of 'climate has always changed...and will continue to do so' tends to underplay the SIGNIFICANT change since the Industrial Revolution while attempting to make lite of the reality of today.

To my knowledge no one is suggesting a 'sudden end to the use of fossil fuels'. But an orderly and orchestrated change certainly seems to me to be in order. And for one I am glad someone.... the scientific community, governments and the like.... are paying attention because waiting until 2050 to see how it all turns out without other solutions already in place would seemingly be catastrophic.

IMO your other comments about China, tilt, CO2 etc are surely reasonable and I am sure that those much smarter than any of us... with respect to cause and effect.... have been studying these and other aspects also.  But in my opinion the 'last 100 years of human progress' have also come with some devastating side effects that we now must acknowledge and quickly so something about.
