HelperGuy
Salvadore at Tio Domingo once regaled me on the ingredients in tortilla soup that would make it genuine. I completely forget the special herb/plant, but in reviewing the recipe from Lorraine Russo of La Nueva Posada, I see one ingredient listed as tomato guy (Saladeta). Anybody know what this is? Bisbee Gal
Salvadore at Tio Domingo once regaled me on the ingredients in tortilla soup that would make it genuine. I completely forget the special herb/plant, but in reviewing the recipe from Lorraine Russo of La Nueva Posada, I see one ingredient listed as tomato guy (Saladena). Anybody know what this is? Here's Lorraine's recipe in English: http://www.mexconnec...2524-aztec-soup Here's Lorraine's recipe in Spanish: http://www.mexconnec...473-sopa-azteca The Spanish version calls for jitomate chico (saladet). Saladet refers to plum tomatoes. And while Lorraine's recipes don't mention epazote, I agree with the Walkers that many Sopa de Azteca recipes do include epazote. HelperGuy
Thanks, all. The English recipe on mexconnect.com has changed from the last time I downloaded it; guy musta been a typo. And I believe epazote is the ingredient I was thinking of.
