Sandrita
Does the US Consulate still come the 1st Wednesday of each month at 10:30-12:30? If a person needs to renew their passport which expires in October how far in advance can you renew it and what is the cost, payable in what currency? Also, is there another place, aside from Guad, where the US Consulate comes to? Time and place would be helpful. Muchas gracias.

They go to the American Legion in Chapala before they come to the LCS, arriving there around 8 a.m. I think. The cost of the passport is $110US - payable with travellers checks which can be obtained from Banamex in Chapala and Bancomer in both Chapala and Ajijic. You need to have filled out the forms on line and printed them out to take with you. If your passport expires in October, you should see the Consular people in September - they will bring your new passport with them on their October visit. You need photos.
