  1. Bad day so far. I had to get some money for a worker at my house and tried 4 ATM's with no luck here in SAT. Decided to go to Ajijic and found the money, but in my rush to get back home to pay him I forgot to buckle up. A gang of cops on the north side were eagle eyeing all cars going both ways and i got waved over. Tried to snap the belt in place before he reached me but he just smiled and asked me for my license and registration. I took only about 5 minutes to complete the paperwork and as he was leaving my window he spotted another offender and waved him over. There were about 5 cars pulled over on the north side. I understand that the fine is now $500 reduced to $400 if paid within 5 days. Please tall me the most convenient place to pay nearest to SAT. Be careful...I have learned my lesson!
  2. OMG! How could you possibly think about having a dog under your table! All those germs, fleas, ticks...and the hair, hair, hair! I have 3 very happy and grateful rescue dogs and they sit and lie anywhere they want. They have their food and I have mine and we are all happy, happy, happy. They would not be happy in a restaurant and I would not think about taking them there but have no problem with others having a well trained "comfort" dog sit or lie next to them at a restaurant. Just my OPINION.
  3. Who did the cataract operation and how did it go? Gracias
  4. Yes, I feel really terrible...only 902 posts over almost double the time (11.5 years) that you have been on this board (6+ years). Wear your crown proudly King Guy! This will be my last post regarding this subject since I am not in this to run up my numbers. However again, I am impressed in the volume of business Impressions that you have managed to achieve. Congratulations!
  5. First, let me congratulate you on winning the Gold Cup for the Most Prolific Poster here. You have been on this board since May, 2013 and posted 11,267 times since then. If my arithmetic is correct you post on average almost 5 times a day. Also, as an old marketing and advertising guy, a tip of my hat for winning the Blue Ribbon as well for the most BUSINESS IMPRESSIONS here since your user name is your business. WOW...such a font of knowledge as well as a marketing expert!
  6. Another hijacked post. Can we get back to my OP? I went there again over the weekend because, as I had mentioned, I had seen some great looking pizzas emerging from the stone oven on the patio. I told Lori “Since I am a simple man I want to order the basic cheese and pepperoni pie”. WOW…excellent! I would say a somewhat thin crust with crisp and tasty edges cooked perfectly. It is served on a raised wood platform and cut into 8 slices. At $135 this would be perfect for a couple, and there are many more choices of toppings although at higher prices. I could eat only 4 slices even though I was hungry and took the other 4 home and had them 2 at a time over the last couple of days with a salad. As far as my OP and the responses…of course there is has to be a poster to complain about dogs….I have been there many times and never seen a dog. Another poster brings up flies, but never have had that problem since there are huge fans above that work quite well in discouraging all but maybe a few that are soon gone. As for this poster: “have been four times. I have never had a decent meal there”….My question is, why did you go back after 2 bad meals and what about stopping after the third time? As far as the comment about the noise from traffic, I would estimate that at least 60% of the most popular restaurants here are located on carreteras and many more on busy streets or noisy plazas. Remember, you can always sit inside. I hope these negative remarks relating to a positive review does not discourage folks from posting restaurant reviews here...Good, Bad and Ugly, however I prefer to emphasize the positive. Just my OPINION.
  7. Just back from another install in lower la floresta and they have same problem . What are you installing?
  8. Maybe a Gay Pride parade vs a Straight Pride parade?
  9. I think I know this location. Is it a little east of Sunrise on the mountain side? Was there not another restaurant there recently with a nice outdoor patio in the back. Are they gone already?
  10. Lots of luck! I am curious when you say "Im in san Antonio and considering changing to ilox but do have doubts" . What could be worse? If for some odd reason Ilox does not work out for you you can always go back to Telmex. Their plans are for the same price and also you can switch you existing land line # to them.
  11. What download speed is your neighbor in SAT getting with Ilox? My Telmex speed also went up dramatically a few months ago from 4 - 5 to over 30 in come cases. Now has gone way down to about 8 -9 in the day and below 5 at night, so this is not working for TV streaming. I think Telmex was trying to get in front of the Ilox situation but not fooling me at all plus the fiber optic cable should be much superior to the copper telephone line.
  12. After signing up with Ilox when the Ajijic office first opened about six months ago and and many broken promises (2 months, 2 more months, then three weeks ago "one week") there is now a rainbow in the sky! I am in SAT on Jesus Garcia in front of the lake and they had strung cable down my street many weeks ago. Yesterday I saw a Ilox crew (clearly marked uniforms and truck) near the corner on my street and La Paz (the next up cross street) and stopped to talk to them. It looked like they were installing some kind of junction box and I explained my situation and asked for a hook-up time estimate to my house a block away. One said "uno semana" but another chimed in "Posiblemente dos semanas". I got rid of my expensive Dish Satellite account months ago and signed up for the My Wi-Fi streaming service in anticipation of Ilox...now very spotty with buffering and freezing with Telmex and have been assured that all will be good when that magic day comes when I can say "Hasta la vista" to Telmex and have the huge choice of channels and viewing options as steady as a rock. Hope springs eternal!
  13. Muy bien...Gracias. I like to keep it local. Ahhh yes...remember the old Lety's well. A real shack with dirt floors if I remember but the best seafood in the area. I can walk to the new Lety's...the same great food and owner (a real charterer) but miss the ambiance of the old although the new is not bad either.
  14. Went there today and not there. I know there is one on Av. Revolution in Ajijic but what happened to the one next to the Coca-Cola plant in SAT?
  15. I was asking about the Guad. Reporter article titled "Cannabis products set to debut in Mexican pharmacies" that states products from a company named CDB Life will be arriving at 40,000 Mexican pharmacies beginning the third week of August. I am assuming that this will be a much more controlled and tested product, or am I assuming to much?
  16. I know that this has been covered here before but a recent Guad. Reporter article titled "Cannabis products set to debut in Mexican pharmacies" states that products from a company named CDB Life will be arriving at 40,000 Mexican pharmacies beginning the third week of August. There was a post here a while ago about "Canadians in Cancun" with a website selling CBD oil. I went there and sent them a message requesting their phone # since there was none posted, to make an order and ask questions. I got a response back that they did not have a phone # and referred me to a Facebook page to make my order. Now, I might be old fashioned, but I am not about to give my personal and financial information to a giant sucking machine whose whole purpose is to gather as much information they can and sell it to the higher bidder. Any company that cannot take the time to talk to you on the phone, especially about a product that has many questions, is not getting my business. Alexander Bell must be rolling over in his grave learning that one of the greatest inventions of all time is now being relegated to impersonal bits and bytes of text that can be hijacked for nefarious purposes (don't get me started). At this time I am only interested in getting this product for my dog Minnie, a 10 year old rescue dog who has been having some kind of back legs arthritis problems and nervous scratching and licking. Dr. Pepe has given me a medical pill that seems to be helping somewhat but I would like to try this since it is more natural and maybe will help better since on some days she has trouble walking. Any comments of personal experience will be appreciated and for sure a reference to a local retail location to buy this where they accept cash (cash is still King) would be much appreciated. Gracias
  17. What type of clothing? I wholesale traditional Mexican arts and crafts and always looking for groups and families to work with.
  18. To be politically correct, it's not a Coop (as in chicken) it's a Co-Op. I would like to learn more about them. What are they creating?
  19. Please PM me or email to hombregringo@gmail.com.
  20. Glad to hear that. Can you prevail what you paid? I posted here a while ago that I had a medium USDA rib eye there that came to $460 + 2 beers and tip...average quality. My experience with steaks in Mexico has not been good. I will try the Aracherra if the price is right and you say is tender. Gracias
  21. Sometimes we forget the better restaurants for trying new ones and others on your favorites list. I have never had a bad (or near bad) experience here as attested by the many Tapatios you see there. They are on the Libremiento just up from the Laguna plaza and the gas station. You can park in the lot there near the car wash or in front of the restaurant. Have seen some comments here about the noise and pollution from the highway, but in fact they are set a ways back and this in not a problem. Lori, the most efficient and hospitable proprietor, runs a tight ship and will personally make sure that you are taken care of. I remember when she ran Lake Taco (still my fish and chips take out place). Of course her fish and chips are also great but her menu expands well beyond that. They have a full menu of the normal things but always a large chalk board of daily specials. Also they have a traditional stone Pizza oven and a large choice of toppings on the menu. Just a few days ago I was sitting on the patio and saw many mouth watering pizzas emerging from this oven. However as I joked with Lori, I had to have the special that I found there years ago...the Chiles en Nogada. This is a traditional Mexican dish of a large chili pepper stuffed with ground meat and nuts and topped with a great cream sauce and comes with a fresh vegetable salad topped with avocado slices and a special home made salad dressing. All this for $130 and together with 2 Negro Modelos the tab came to $210. I left a $30 tip and Lori gave me a hearty Hasta Luego! when I left. What a deal!
  22. I would say that if you are not an expert and do not have a factual answer to a specific question, please do us a big favor not not spew your non-factual opinions here. There are plenty of so called SOCIAL MEDIA sites that are destroying peoples brains every day, especially the younger ones...go there. Yes there are some posts here asking for comments and opinions, but this was not one of them.
  23. Well, as they say, Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this is getting crazy! Even the so called "experts" here are arguing among themselves and providing exactly divergent FACTS. I am probably the least technical guy here but I thought the OP's question was quite logical and something that I would like to know myself. I give up! Maybe ii is one of those UNANSWERABLE QUESTIONS.
  24. Someone is obviously wrong here. 2 divergent "opinions". This is my main beef with this board...people confusing opinions with fact.
