dichosalocura
After living here for 4 years, I saw my first lighting bug tonight. I even started to doubt that they existed in Mexico. There does not appear to be many in Chapala, but now I know that they exist. Cool ! We have an arroyo that runs behind our house, and I noticed tonight that a few like to hang out down there. I spotted them from the mirador but have yet to see one buzz around our yard.
Al Berca
I had one in the house about a week ago. Only second or third one I have seen in my over ten years here. Wonder where they hang out and why there are so few?
cedros
I've seen them off and on in my garden for months at night. They are a rather nondescript bug except for their light. Only the males produce the light-to attract females. So in the non breeding season and in daylight you might never notice them.
