AlanMexicali
The word for what you want is toldo. My wife calls them a "carpa". Never heard the word "toldo" yet.
Travis
Hotel Italo rents toldos of various sizes, which is definitely the word used here. These are the kind that are open air, just to make large areas of shade. If the op is looking for a camping tent that zips up at night, etc., I don't know where they can be rented. Another regional difference. Here I have not seen "toldos". I presume because it gets very windy here and right now is the windy season. The big ones here can have the sides rolled up to the top. The city has a bunch of very large ones they put up in the plazas for events that connected together that can cover 100s of sq. meters. Many Jardines de Eventos also have them. Thanks for the info.
