stuphel
My husband and I live in Mexico for 6 months per year. We are Canadian, and have health insurance there for the rest of the year. I have my Permanente status, and can use Mexican health care, but as I age (age 72) I feel I should supplement this rather than self-insuring if I need to. I've looked at travel policies, and that may be the way to go, but I was wondering if there is such a thing as a regular health insurance plan in Mexico that I can access (and pay premiums for) for six months of the year, or do I have to pay the annual fee, even though I will not be in the country for half the year. Any suggestions are appreciated. ps My husband comes to Mexico on a turista visa so that we can bring in our car. He buys traveller's insurance to cover his needs. tomgates
Your age could be an issue. All the insurance we were familiar with when we there was for a 12 mo policy. I was always declined because I was on 3 blood pressure meds and I was in my low 60's. Travel policies would be the way to go.
