Jauquin in the south west corner of the Chapala mercado sells it by the block and waaaay cheaper than the other places mentioned. He has excellent cheddar and oaxaca cheese, cultured Mazamitla butter. I only mention those 4 because I have actual experience with them.

I've heard of the Inside Lakeside forum, but I have never heard of ALV. What does ALV stand for and how do you get to check it out?
Thanks in advance for you answer.
another local venue is what i call that which you speak of and you're a member of even though you're a mod here

Considering the lack of content on this forum and the problems of late, I did a search for some members. I am wondering why members who have been banned and/or died are still listed as active members. Curious.
It's the same[banned or died] on ALV which has much less content and active members than this board.

Sorry folks. Had to deal with priorities.
my wife had heart surgery at Puerta de Hierro where she acquired two nosocomial bacteria (pseudomonas aurigenosis and staphylococcus apúrelas). They sent her home too early advising 24/7 oxygen. As a result of her weakness she had a fall and fractured a vertebra. That’s kept me away from thanking you all for your offered advise. I’ll be back once this stuff gets sorted out and she is pain free. And thanks for caring. PS I am not a troll. What a burden! But under the circumstances 24/7 oxygen may just be short term so no need for expensive backup as you can get mechanically operated canisters from your equipment supplier in case of blackout.

I might hope that you would at the very least offer an apology to Cyberjack after reading his most recent post, but having read your self-centered, arrogant, and often times ignorant posts for the past few years, I won't be holding my breath.
Reality seems to escape you unless you're merely projecting.

He may not be a troll but certainly lost my support by not even taking any help that was offered......like a drowning victim that screams "HELP" but then won't get into the rescue boat but keeps on yelling...."HELP> HELP."
I PM'd him on the 17th and he has not read it yet even with 2 people explaining how PM's work.

I gave you my cell # to help you in a PM. I am not going to bother anymore since you can't be bothered responding but I helped myself, and others that read it,with proper backup as per a thread on the main board.

I don't know what Dra. Claudia and her family drive, but I hope it's something expensive and that I contributed to it because she (and Dr. Silva, the retinologist) saved my eyesight. Quality care deserves quality bennies.
Tim decided to go elsewhere. Claudia. her family and their associates are the best that you can get here so read more carefully, por favor. And yes I have plenty of first hand knowledge, in a past career, where I had personal contact with about 100 Ophthalmologists.

For those who may be unaware, Dr. Claudia has an office separate from the eye clinic in Guadalajara. I was examined by her there because I cannot climb steps. I opted for my surgery done by Dr. Garrido at Puerta De Hierro Sur, which was a perfect experience, with private room pre and post procedure, an anesthesiologist who emailed with me ahead of time to learn of my prior experience. I had eyes done separately; Zeiss (AT LISA) trifocal lenses at 42,000 pesos each all in.
In the clinic you didn't go to,it's an out patient procedure.no need for stay pre and post. There is a reason that there is a Ferrarie and Lamborghini showroom beside HPH where you went to contribute.

Their surgical clinic (Oftalia) appears to be on one floor. Will know more in a few days.
You take an elevator ,with assistance, to the surgery rooms on the second floor.

The troll referred to above has stated that he has been posting on this board for many years, he posted nearly two decades.
It would appear that he must have been banned several times, because he has been posting under his present name since May 10th and has so far made some 98 posts under his newest name. I have no idea what names he has used in the past.
There are only 3 people still on here from 2 decades ago and he ain't close to being one of them.

That's absolutely not true. My husband and I had both eyes done at the same time. Excellent doctor and excellent results. Also...her sister, Dra. Paulina, is great, too.
ETA: I had my eyes done about 3 years ago, so the policy on one or two eyes may have changed. Also, my eyes were $94,000 pesos but that was because I had trifocals (love 'em!) and one special lens because of bad astigmatism. Frankly, it was worth every penny and I'd do it all again in a NY second.
No legit optha including dr. Claudia's family will do both at once anywhere in the entire first world anymore.

My husband was seen In Chapala by Dra. Claudia's sister, Dra. Paulina last Tues 16th. (Dra. Claudia does not personally come out here any more). He needs both eyes done.... in Guad where the fabulous equipment is. Well.... equipment out here is pretty space-age too!
One booked for Tues 23 and second one Tues 30th. Cost for BOTH is $70,000 in his case. I stress this because he has an additional problem in one eye that will not be addressed, but may (???) affect overall price. Process is (1) you book appt. out here with Dra. Paulina (comes Mon-Wed-Fri to Chapala). Follow-ups (day after, then a week later, then a month later etc.) are done out here or mroe if needed.
I suppose you COULD go to Guad for diagnostic appt. but so much easier here. Might be faster to book there?????
The surgery is done at their specialized clinic in Guadalajara owned by their mother who is also an optha, It has become a world wide practice to do cataracts one at a time because of the many serious problems that arose doing both at once.

I have it clipped to my bulletin board after Santander stamped it fake after I took it to them telling them it was fake, and wouldn't give me a good one. Got it from Scotia ATM or Interam cashier

Doesn't have to be the same place but would be nice. Dowel can be wood or plastic about 2' long - it's for physical therapy.
I have some varnished wood 1 1/2 IN. curtain dowels that I can cut for you any length you want free. You pick up.

Fred, we have just recently had the same need for 24/7 oxygen. We bought a concetrator from Lydia at Lake Med (a really quiet unit - the Caire Companion 5 - and love it. It’s much much quieter then the Respiricon units.
last night we had a short power drop and I realized that we have no backup plan. What do you do for the power outages? We considered the portable units (like the Inogen) but it is a pulse machine, not continuous flow, and everything we read and hear tells us that the pulse units aren’t suitable for sleeping as the oxygen release is driven by inhalation which is not strong enough while sleeping I’ve also considered a generator.
So I am searching for a solution. Hope you can help. What is your backup system? Thanks.sent you a pm.

Not everyone can afford what you did, nor do they need a whole house until.
Not everyone is on 24/7 oxygen to stay alive. What is your suggestion?

The Generac generator kicks on in 10seconds after black or brown out and kicks off when cfe comes back on.

While Mexican street food is frequently very appetizing, tasty, cheap and pretty healthy eating, the after effects may be pretty bad for us Gringos. I speak from personal experience. I was glad (years ago) for the Ajijic Clinic being close by and only 100 pesos to see the doctor. Since then I've stuck with places that cater to a fair amount of Gringos and no further food-borne issues.
I have never had your experience with Mexican street food because I get it where I see the most Mexicans gather not gringos.

Just fly it! A little wear and even lot is no big deal. When I was at my cabin in Montana July 1 and 4, I flew my pre 1948 Canadian flag and the 48 state, which obviously weren't like new. Change yer mind set from imaculate[sic] to used and still useful-EH!
