Announcement:

There will be a fund-raising rummage sale (Bazaar) this weekend, Saturday (Oct. 17) and Sunday (Oct.18)

in Chapala. There are lots of wonderful items for sale, both new and used. You will find fantastic bargains! Please come and browse.

The proceeds will go to man in Guatemala (and his family of 5). who was one of the many unfortunate migrants traveling through Mexico on their way to the “promised land, the American dream”. Well, he never made it. Manuel de Jesus Herrera lost both of his legs while trying to jump onto a north-bounding train here in Guadalajara. That was 2 years ago. Manuel spent many months in the Hospital Civil in downtown Guadalajara. That is where I met him. The Mexican Red Cross provided him with a wheel chair and sent him back to Guatemala when the doctors released him.

Manual and his wife have been trying to survive as best as they can, but their life is very hard. A small group of friends are trying to raise enough money so that Manuel can buy a small plot of land in Guatemala, which would make him independent from landlords and help him provide for his family.

WHERE: CHAPALA, AVENIDA LAS REDES 114 (right behind the store “SURTIDOR DE CHAPALA” on PEPE GUIZAR (this is not very far from THE OLD TRAIN STATION IN CHAPALA).

WHEN: SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17 AND 18, FROM 9:00 AM TO 3:00 pm.

HOSTS: Francisco Ico del Rio, and Jose Banavidez Gomez, tel number 376 765 3170 .

Hope you can make it!
