Jackie, I also do not intend, nor want, to get into a "contest" with you; however, there is a difference between having an opinion and interfering. If you feel threatened by this type of situation, then you have every right to keep yourself covered and cross the street to protect yourself. What you don't have is the right to tell others how to live their lives. Frankly, if someone told me to "mask up" while I'm walking outside, I would offer him an alternative suggestion that involves self abuse. I do not believe I'm anyone's keeper other than my own. The one thing I do not have the chutzpah to do is to tell a Mexican how to behave in his country. They tell me what the laws are and I respect and obey them. Other than that, I'm not a citizen so I don't have the right to tell them how to do things. Just because I don't speak up doesn't mean I agree with a situation....nor does it mean I disagree. 

I have to add one thing that makes me laugh...when I go somewhere to shop, I will not put my mask on until I'm approaching the entrance to the store for the old "slop and temp" routine. Every so often, I'll get the death glare from some self-righteous gringo/a (not at all meaning to imply you're like this) who pointedly adjusts/touches their own mask. These same folks are the first to just jam themselves between me and the produce I'm bagging or grab an item directly in front of me on the shelf without saying so much as an "excuse me" or "do you mind if I..." but they'll be covered by their Darth Vader mask, gloves, etc while they continue to glare. Gotta love it!

LOL...tks for the warning! He was Carlos with me. The funny thing is, as common as Carlos is as a name, I actually don't personally know anyone named Carlos! Should have stuck to John. 

There is so much I'd like to say to the OP, but I'm afraid of the words I'd use, so I'll just put it this way:  they were outside in the sunshine, obviously not close to you, so why don't you let those affected get righteously indignant and stick your nose in something that actually requires your attention? 

I ride one and feel more comfortable on it than in the car. You also get through traffic easier...BUT you have to be doubly careful because drivers don't always see you, and I'm not talking about zipping in and out of traffic. You have to keep your distance because the scooters can't stop on a dime while cars can. Mine is only 150cc, but it's perfect for my needs. I just ride a cheapie Italika so that if/when it starts to fall apart, I don't have a lot invested in it. So far, I've had 3 and am happy. Hope that helps a bit.

Simple...if Coppell doesn't need our foreign credit cards, then they don't need our foreign business.

BTW, I had my card rejected at Walmart and thought that my cc company had done another random sweep for fraud. Nope. It was the machine at Walmart. Like Brian, I called my cc company and let them know that it was embarrassing to have the card rejected...only to be told they weren't the problem. I went back and told the girl it wasn't my card and she called her supervisor. No acknowledgement, no apology and the two just chatted back and forth as though I wasn't there (and yes, I did understand them). Of course, the card went through. Meanwhile, I had several folks in the line looking at me like...well, you know the "look" that's given when someone's card is rejected.

Or...maybe the area can handle two similar restaurants?

Does anyone have information on the new hospital? We passed by it today and the "Coming Soon" sign was down and the permanent sign was in place. There were people going in and out so...fingers crossed. (Edit) I know they're on FB, but I don't use it.

I have also spoken to one veteran who was presented with numerous bills for services he did NOT receive, that were billed and not paid by the government agency overseeing healthcare for vets with service connected disabilities. He was beside himself trying to get it all sorted.

 

And they also have tried to double bill on services for which they had already charged and received payment. For us, it was at least eleven times the last time I checked and that was over a month ago...

If I were to write of what hubby went through in 19 months of attempting to receive help from SAH (and which took exactly 5 minutes for a doc up north to diagnose and a half a day of tests to confirm), you would think I was making it up, exaggerating, or had some sort of agenda. It's none of these. For obvious reasons, I'll simply say that we choose to obtain medical care elsewhere. 

Hey, folks...do we really need to be doing this on a post that was meant to express sympathy? I know how easy it is, I'm very guilty of having done it many times, too, but in this case, please...

I simply want to say how sorry I am to have heard/read of the loss of the owner of Fogon de Charlotte due to unnatural causes (all I'm allowed to say on this board). He and his wife were quite industrious and had built up quite a clientele in the ex-pat community. My sincere condolences to the entire family.

I tip. It's not going to kill me to give 10-20 pesos, even if it's just my scooter. I don't think most of them are rolling in the tip dough, so why not? If tipping means you're going to bed hungry tonight, then don't do it. If you can, do. It may not be a big deal to you, but I'm sure it makes a difference to the person who gets a few extra pesos.  Yes, I just had to thump that poor, dead horse, too!

That's not completely true, Ferret. I've had to go there for various reasons and there is often a line...nothing bad, but when you're in a rush, they're not exactly the fastest there (not a complaint since it's paperwork). As you said, it's open and airy and the guard that was there the last time I went was extremely helpful and kept me from waiting in the wrong line.

If you understood, then you understand that it's telling you that the glitch is with the info that you were trying to enter. Just go to the Recaucadora and pay. While it's a pain (waiting in line, etc), at least you'll know you've done it by the book.

We just went yesterday and it's very well-stocked and clean, BUT if you're heading south, you have to pay attention because the signage isn't that good on the south side (but is as you head north/towards Costco). 

An oldie, but it still makes me laugh...
