ibarra
This photo was taken from Brisas de Chapala when the fire first started. It was huge. A helicopter has dropped about 10 loads of water so far on our side of the mountain and the side that faces Ixtlahuacan. We have been lucky so far as the wind isn't blowing in our direction. We believe it started in CH 3 and wind carried it up and over the mountain. Tis the season.

Maryanna
Thanks for posting. We smelled smoke here in Chula Vista Norte but couldn't identify it.
ibarra
There are still many small fires. Apparently, the Bomberos don't care if the mtn burns.
bmh
It is good forthe mountain toburnsome every year otherwise you end up with huge fires that burn everything in sight. The dry grass and underbrush needs to burn that is part of the natural cycle..It is a sad sight but it is even worse when it does not burn for several years. Ferret
Totally agree with burns BUT not in the driest part of the season and certainly not when the winds are the strongest of the year. That's just downright stupid. 1
ibarra
This wasn't a planned burn. It was set by a homeowner. There are homes that were in jeopardy, there are communication towers in the burn area, there are cows and horses that were displaced. Tell that to the fauna that died on the mountain.

Ferret
What is done illegally falls into the department of the country that's doing it. There are stupid people everywhere in the world and there always will be.
