BenjiBoy
My wife is a bit of a hoarder and we have a huge amount of good to very good costume jewelry and I don't have a clue where to place it for sale. We are talking about two 5 draw cabinets full..... Fred Habacht
ibarra
In my experience, costume jewelry is hard to sell. I have taken a lot to Mia's and to Smokies over the years with slow sales results. If you have some exceptional pieces, I personally would take them to Daniel Jackson. Natasha
Unless he's changed his policy, Daniel only takes the "real" thing. But no harm in calling to ask.

NEWMtnMama
Just a thot. Get several neighbors to help and have a garage sale, either at your house or if a friend has a high-traffic location house have it there. Display the jewelry on several tables: $50 pesos, $100 pesos and so on. Put up lots of signs advertising the sale. It would probably be sold in a few hours. BenjiBoy
I live in a 100% Mexican neighborhood....the bazaars in the area can't sell ropa for 40 mxp an item so my garage sale would be for lookie-loos if that but thanks for the reply. traderspoc
Todo Bueno consignment and resale shop, has excellent traffic and lighting, set up account you can it at todo bueno. next to S&S auto. i remember last year many pieces of costume jewelry where on sale, and also recall a few years ago someone brought 7 package of assorted broken costume jewelry some good, put price of $200 peso on each package and sold half them in a week. There are creative artists who can do things with a package of costume jewelry at a good price.
BenjiBoy
I sell many items at Todo Bueno BUT your volunteers suggested they probably could not handle a large amount of my items as their area was limited to two peg boards with some necklases taking up not much space. I would be delighted to ask again when I visit next week. Fred Habacht

cstone
Fred, You can also contact Julie and Wayne Hensley. They are specialists in garage and estate sales. In addition, there are a number of local sites on FaceBook that sell such items. Another possibility is to approach some of the nicer "boutique" shops in Ajijic that cater to tourists and see if they might buy them from you. BenjiBoy
Thank you for the suggestions. Julie has been too busy to be of any help to me....I am going to give Todo Bueno a shot at the stash as they are willing to try. I am actually moving a lot of small items there already but I remain open to other locations

Called the other day to ask and was informed they had not even been put on display yet. Apparently their current backlog is over 4 months, which certainly was not mentioned at the time. artsnob
Mia's has more stuff in back room than they have on display in front, If you are in hurry for money ,go somewhere else...
ibarra
Mia's is running 6 months behind per owner and employees. I don't think that time frame pertains to jewelry.
BenjiBoy
I have been dropping off items to Todo Beuno and getting some dinero at least every week when I drive in....today I brought the first pile of costume pins and phony pearls and they will price them and bag them for me......Mia's has never been a "go to place" for me as they have more items in storage then ever see the floor displays.....but you all have been very, very helpful and I will return the favor if I have info you might need. NEWMtnMama
You might also contact Tommy Thompson at Barbara's Bazaar about the high-end stuff. He has sources for selling unusual or expensive items other than in his store.
BenjiBoy
A real story about Barbara's Bazaar: I owned three antique table phones...bakelite cases with fabric covered cords in pristine condition. all updated with a modern connector..a 1939, 1940, 1941 and they all worked....because they had a dial tone when plugged in...."Tommy" said they must be phony because "there was no dial tone back then...." I never brought him anything else and don't plan on any further offers Fred Habacht
RickS
Dial tone, of course, is generated by the phone company or private PBX, NOT the instrument.

BenjiBoy
As an individual....I do have the right to use or not use any merchant I chose , even if it is not the right choice....and I hope to keep that right. Please note that it was that bazaar that turned me down and not the other way around. Fred Habacht
