Responabilities towards part time maid ?

Or, go to http://www.rollybrook.com and you can do your own finquito. Don't try to take shortcuts. If you're not sure, use a pro. We had to "temporarily" terminate our maid (exact same hours/days as yours) when she needed hip replacement surgery. We did the calculations, paid her an extra couple of months to support her and were pretty liberal on the final amount. We had her sign a termination letter (in Spanish) and made sure she understood where the calculations came from. She got a copy of that, too. After a few months to recover, we rehired her.

Any one has actual knowledge of what responsibilities, if any, one has towards a part time maid ( works 2 days a week for a total of 10 hours) if she can no longer work due to her physical  medical issues.  Has been employed  for just over 4 years.

Do as Tingting says and read the rollybrook site.  Legally if she is quitting on her own accord, no termination pay is required.  Morally..... for a person who can no longer work?  That's between you and yourself.

Please note:  Some people who do pay (required) aguinaldo each year don't seem to be aware that annual  vacation pay is also legally required to be paid, based on formula in that same site.  If you have never paid her that, the you must calculate it and pay that now.

Mainly for any 'newbies' here..... while Rolly had a wonderful website (almost as wonderful as the guy was himself!), he passed away a long time ago and that site has not been updated in about 8 years.

While some things might stay eternal, I would assume that other things have gotten stale as laws change so for sure take things with a grain....

Not to argue Rick, but I checked the federal and state civil codes for anything that site doesn't have correctly when helping a friend calculate finiquito and long-overdue   ( never paid for 10 years) vacation pay last January.  All places it worked out to be the same.

Not sure how 2023 new numbers of vacation days (ie stat holidays) may affect vacation pay calculations.
