With respect  there has been 2 systems. The one you mention and paid coin metered where you put in a coin and turned the lever.

The community (Chapala) needs to sort it's self out, does it want to be a successful friendly tourism city, or a sleepy unfriendly city.

Historically because of its location , on the water, it has always been an attraction for the Tatpitos,  long before the Gringos arrived.

I guess tourism does add revenue to the tax base? Also better public toilet need to be added.  The suggested Parking with free bus is a good proposal.

However "WE" are mere foreigners,  many with great talent and experience, ( like Todd Strong) , eager to be called......But don't hold your breath.

There is a huge cultural divide between US and THEM. Firstly do we see the issue as a Problem,  yes/ no. Then if we agree how we fix it , we have a different approach and methodology. If you have a Mexican partner,  wife, you will understand what I am saying.....or maybe not.

For myself my head is very sore, I given up the fight and resting, and ignoring the challenges,  leaving the " problems" perceive or otherwise,  for the "newbies " to fix. Peace and may 2023 bring us good health and happiness.

I am not one of your "WE" as I am a Mexican.

The long ago parking meters were a failure as well....always jammed ..... Cost more to maintain than they received

And for future reference it is Tod Stong       no r in his name.

Perhaps you can confirm are you a naturalized Mexican or...

The parking meters I used always work but I am willing to concede people tried to use improper coins..as to cost to maintain..perhaps you were privy to that info..not i

Sorry for the incorrect spelling of Tod name, but the basis of my point remains the same

It cost plenty to repair the damage from the storm of unavoidable gravel on the road to Mazamitla last spring. Unnecessary.

I guess when they place signs warning of construction ahead we should find out what type of repairs they are doing before we proceed.  But that really isn't practical.  I would suggest when driving on all of this gravel that we all stay really far behind the car in front of us to avoid damage.

Last year's was my first encounter - no warning. Never again.

Need pesos for Ajijic deplorable village streets  with horrible holes. Damage to cars. Ajijic pays plenty of taxes.

It is a ridiculously absurd way to do road resurfacing. Nothing charming about it and needlessly wasteful to the extent of billions of pesos.
