bdmowers
I am writing this because I feel people need to know about this place before they get involved with it and get burned. We went for an initial exam with a doc at RH. She was in her very early 20`s and her responses sounded like she was reading out of a manual. Not impressive. The cost was 2600 pesos. When we asked about the different charges on the bill, the woman at the counter could not explain one of the charges. Neither could the director of the hospital. What a nightmare! It felt awful to be there, like these people were just trying to milk us for as much money as they possibly could and cared not the slightest for us. We will never set foot in the place again. San Antonio hospital charges 1,000 pesos for this, always for doctors that give you confidence and sound like they are talking from much experience. 3
Tingting
I used to be a VERY big fan of RMC. Great service, fair prices, etc, etc. Unfortunately, I think they are associated with Lakeside Medical Group and...well, I'll leave it at that. Unfortunately, SAH is not an improvement. Maybe one day someone will actually connect the dots and realize the great potential here lakeside if they JUST STOP LOOKING AT US AS WALKING WALLETS and provide the service, with qualified personnel, at the going rate. For us, it's Hospital Ajijic (love Dr. Rodriguez, the father) for most things and Guadalajara specialists for the rest.
happyjillin
I have nothing but good things to say about HSAT. We are lucky to have them here.Of course not all the docs are great as with any place, but others that have privileges there fill the bill. 1
Richmond
I could not agree more with the comments regarding both RMC and SAH. In my opinion, they look upon the foreign community as easy money as most dislike driving to Guadalajara. I was grossly overcharged at RMC twice. Now I will seek treatment or a referral from a knowledgeable local doctor, one who charges a fair price for his or her services.

Yo1
I had been seeing a doc at Maskaras for 800 pesos a visit. When he moved to SAH, my charge was 1400 pesos. I don't think so!

Most of these medical facilities don' t have a clue how to take care of a patient, especially one that has been hospitalized. I personally had a bad experience at San Antonio Hospital.

The only option when no one can explain a charge is to not pay it unless they come up with a logical explanation.
Alpha1
Let me say that after my one night stay at San Antonio Hospital, due to a medical emergency, I will never be going back.

Happyjillin, with all due respect, the medical treatment that I underwent and the costs involved are of no concern to you. I never mentioned 'Rip off' in my post. It would appear that you have an axe to grind. It requires sharpening. 2

I've said this before, and I'll say it again...the utter lack of care at SAH could've resulted in spouse's death. Period. I will forever be grateful for the immediate care and knowledge that Dr. Rodriguez displayed when I went for a 2nd opinion. The only reason I went elsewhere was because going into Ajijic is a nightmare and RMC started out so promisingly. The potential here is incredible, but the greed seems to get in the way.
NEWMtnMama
I have used the SAH imaging department and have been pleased with the kindness and professionalism of the personnel. The prices seem very reasonable to me. I recently used 2 specialists. Both have been wonderful: knowledgeable, caring and very reasonably priced - less than Yo1 had to pay. Ting, I would always get a 2nd opinion on any serious medical question. Especially if the diagnosis seems at all questionable.
Tingting
MtnMama, I absolutely agree with you BUT they gave no diagnosis at all. He was brought in to their "ER," hooked up on a non-functioning machine, basically ignored and left on his own until an IV bag was empty. That was the total sum of the care. When he was discharged, someone (doc? nurse? floor cleaner?) just gave me a piece of paper and said that he should have "X" checked out. No sense of emergency, nothing. IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. I tried to speak with the doctor, any doctor, and was blown off by several individuals. It took Dr. Rodriguez (the son) less than 10 seconds to tell me what was happening. There is a lot more to it than that simple explanation, but there is no way either of us will ever step over their threshold again. So, please understand that I am not a fan. FWIW, this wasn't the first time we were underwhelmed, but it was the last. 2
gringal
I was suffering from lung and heart problems. Dr. Hector Briseno checked me into the SAT hospital. They hooked me up to their machines for both conditions and apparently saved my life. I have no complaints. 1

Dr. Garcia use to charge $700 but up it to $800 . Quality Care specialists charge $900 . More if they do a procedure. BTW Dr. G charged $50 ten years ago. 🤫
El Cartero
“BTW Dr. G charged $50 ten years”. Missed a 0 Maryanna. 20 years ago he was 300 then went to 500. I don’t think my pension grew that much in the same perod.

Nikalos Telsa
I would trade places with any of you. A little under a year ago, I had an M.I. and taken to the E.R. I knew exactly what I needed, and told everyone, including the cardiologist. And yes, I knew what I was talking about, but was ignored. My wife was sent home to get cash for a deposit. She was then sent to our bank to get money from the ATM. With the delays, the window closed on the "Golden Hour." Finally I was stabilized but by that time, a lot of heart muscle had died. Then the cardiologist said my situation required more than they could give me and recommended I go to California to see my regular cardiologist. By that time I was and still am in Stage One heart failure. My California cardiologist, Chief of Cardiology in a major hospital, wanted to see my records from here. I asked for them at the hospital. I was told I would have they by email in 2 days. That was over two months ago. I won't say what hospital or who was the cardiologist least I be charged by some members here with slandering a good hospital and highly respected doctor. Yes, IMO, expats are cash cows here for hospitals and other businesses."

The biggest problem in Mx and many other countries is there is little to no accountability with doctors, hospitals, attorneys, etc. IMO, the best you can hope for ia an apology (never in writing) for the "inconvenience" caused you. 1

So then it's a no-win. I don't say who/when/and how, I am creating problems for the readers. If I do name names, I'm slandering good people. That's a no-win either way. I did point out it was one of the "new" gringo hospitals where SOME of the doctors clearly don't give a darn about much past building the bill to lay on the rich gringos.
