John Shrall
Has anyone taken what is being called the Aguascalientes Libriamento in order to avoid going through town? Going north it starts well before Av Siglo XXI and swings west before returning to 45D far north of town. It's obviously more miles but it would bypass all the lights and traffic going through the city. I'm planning to try it on our next trip north coming up soon unless there's a good reason to stick to the usual route.
Mainecoons
Yes. Just used it going north to New Mexico. It is excellent! Very fast, in great condition, saves a lot of time and driver fatigue. One toll 0f 69 pesos. Well worth it. Southbound, toilets just before toll booth. Entrance going northbound just after the La Quinta hotel on the right, well marked towards Zacatecas.
John Shrall
Thanks for sharing. AGS was the only slow spot using this route to Laredo. Traffic can be bad at times. Now the only scary part is the 2 lane autobahn around the west and north ends of Saltillo. Overloaded trucks can't maintain the speed limit so there is a lot of dangerous passing to contend with made even worse should there be fog or rain. John Shrall
Google Maps was apparently updated recently to reflect the new option around AGS.
tomgates
Something wrong with the Lagos-SLP route? As noted, too much 2-lane Cuota on the AGS-Zactecas route.
John Shrall
We've made the trip to Texas over 20 times in the last couple of decades using all 4 possible routes. The prettiest and slowest was through the barrancas north of GDL heading toward Fresnillo. I think the AGS route is shorter and faster than SLP through Matehuala and less stressful except for that relatively short stretch around Saltillo. Everyone has their favorite route to get to Laredo. This just happens to be mine.
