My Dentist of choice is out of Mexico until September and I think it is time to start a new relationship with, hopefully, a professional......so, references would be most appreciated.

Dr. Rodrigo and Dr. Carlos.  Both began at Dental express before it went downhill.  Are in practise together ...."Dentistree" 😅.... and both are EXCELLENT.  You can have absolute confidence in each.  Located near Tio Sam's on libramiento. 376 688 4593    Send me an email or PM for more.

I believe all local dentists bring in surgeons from Guadalajara to do implants. This is the case with Dental Express and Dr. Carlos. If you get an implant at Dental express be aware of added costs. The advertised price on the sign out front only covers the post; not the filler (bone graft), membrane nor tooth (crown). The actual cost is more than double of that advertised.

Incorrect my friend.  And please note Dr. Carlos is no longer with D.E., as I mentioned above.

I know that Dr. Carlos is not at DE. I had a long discussion with him wherein I asked him if he does the implants or brings in a surgeon. He brings in a surgeon, as I stated. If he did the implants, I would have attended his office.

I then asked his opinion of the surgeon who is brought in by Dental Express. He said that he is a good surgeon, therefore I went ahead with the appointment at DE after a discussion with their surgeon.

I was blind sided by the additional costs as mentioned, which was the major point of my post. Perhaps you misunderstood what I was attempting to convey,

Actually, Dra. Candy does implants....locally.

Interesting. So she is a dental surgeon? If you don't mind telling, did she complete a satisfactory implant on you? What period of the time did process take place over?

A Mexican friend reported getting 2 implants several years ago in La Floresta (can't remember name) which were completed in total over several days. A friend in Vancouver reported the same. The dentists here, who I asked, complete them only over several months.

Rick I've never heard of them. As you know, we use Dr. Carlos and Dr. Rodrigo.

I was actually asking you about Dr. Carlos and Dr. Rodrigo with reference to 'doing implants'.  Both my wife and I have seen Dr. Carlos.... for crown/preparation. Don't know Dr. Rodrigo but Carlos is top notch IMO.  But implants.... don't think they do but use someone(s) from Guadalajara. Which would be fine with me if I needed an implant.

With respect to DE... since the 'departure' of owner Dr. Edgar Macias IMO the shop has gone downhill. I would/will only use him and/or Dr. Carlos but since neither of them seem to be there any longer I'll just stay away.

In reality, my go to dentist is Dr. Barragan... and others in his practice in Mirasol!   I only decided to use Dr. Macias as he was using CAD/CAM machines for crowns and could place one 'overnight'. Did that with him twice and was/am still a fan of that process. But not if someone else is going to do the work.

Mine were done in 2014 by Dr. Haro's office... they brought in someone from Guadalajara. No problems. I did not need bone implants but Dr. Barragan assumed that since I was over 60 I MUST have them. The Dental Surgeon in Dr. Haro's office practically had to kneel on my chest to drill because the jawbone was so hard. If you need implants, please do a lot of research so you know what questions to ask. The post must be totally healed before capping and that takes at least six to eight weeks... otherwise your gums are still swollen and no cap fitted before then will ever be right. There are also options where the tooth is pulled and the post immediately put in which, therefore, requires no drilling. Everyone is different and so the cost and procedure will be different too.

My husband has 4 implants from Dra. Candy.  No problems at all. We have been going to her since she opened an office lakeside around 11 years ago.  My husband has had extensive work done from her and could not be happier.  A specialist pulls teeth if needed and if you need a root canal a specialist does that.

I thought Dr Candy had stopped doing implants after all the bad publicly and I believe lawsuits..  Awhile ago there was a post on this board about Dr Candy and implants..

She used to or maybe still does have a poster on the wall in her waiting room showing her graduating from a 2 week course in Korea on how to install implants..

if you need implants Dr Haro or Dr Barragan are the only two dentists I would use for implants, both of them have fixed up other dentists mistakes..

I used Haro's office for implants last year. A surgeon comes in from Guadalajara for tooth extraction and drilling for the post. My tooth was under a crown and whoever put it in used some sort of really permanent glue. It took a long time to remove the crown but in a matter of minutes what was left of the tooth was gone. The drilling and placement of the post was also pretty quick and not very painful.

I had to wait 4 months to return for the second half of the procedure. They made the cast and then a few weeks later I came back where they attached the new tooth. Unfortunately, there was pain after the new tooth was installed with their little ratchet. It turned out there was also a problem with the back molar next to it which needed to be pulled. No big deal. However, when drilling for the new post he hit bedrock. This I blame on the surgeon because my xrays showed a wisdom tooth up there on its side not bothering anything except the drill.

He took it out which was a lot easier than other wisdom teeth extractions but after returning months later there wasn't any bone left to attach a post unless they went close to the sinus cavity. I passed on any more intervention.

I think the surgeon Haro uses was competent, but the outcome wasn't ideal. In the end the implant is fine. No pain but there is a little valley in the back where food likes to collect although the valley seems to be shrinking.

Even after this experience I would recommend using Haro's office.

I don't understand how Dentists do it quickly.

The process for me with Dra Candy was;

dental surgeon to do extraction and bone graft.

three months for bone to heal then the implant

one more month to settle in the implant then the post and crown.
