Mainecoons
Looking to plant a Mexican lime tree, our previous one didn't survive the blight. That was removed about 3 years ago and planning on planting in a new location. Where to go for good quality and blight resistant lime tree? artsnob
the Vivero In back down street from Super Lake has five different varieties...some grafted with lemon and limes on one tree, I have one of those in my yard, the do not have blight, but they get lots of sun and air movement...
happyjillin
I don't know where ours came from but it's at least 18 years old. we trim it properly, cut off infected branches and spray Dawn soap water on it from time to time and have had the pleasure of many crops to the point where we give some away. Just get one and care for it. Ours is in the middle of our courtyard so getting sun is no problem. edit: lime tree foto
barrbower
Hey MC, if you are talking about the leaf mold "blight" it is hard to find one that won't get it. A diluted bleach/dish soap solution sprayed on the leaves will control it. Spay as soon as you see any black spots. The leaves will still show black spots but the mold will be dead. That also will kill aphids. Alan
cedros
Mine aren't blight resisent. To combat the blight I sprayed mine witn a mixure of water, neem oil, and dishwashing soap. And then rubbed the wet leaves clean of blight by hand.
tomgates
Try to get a key lime tree, the ones that turn yellow when ripe. I remember fondly the margaritas at Super Burrito and they used key limes.
happyjillin
Citrus blight is a world wide problem on all types of these fruit trees, so again I suggest proper care and maintenance is the ONLY option
bmh
I do not believe any citrus is immune to that blight.. as happychillin says it is a worldwide problem.
Mainecoons
You all just convinced me not to get one of these trees. This place is maintenance intensive enough without having a tree you have to wash the leaves on. Thanks to all for the feedback.
