Jubilacion
We live east of Vista del Lago in Tlachichilco with good water quality and have a 2-stage filter system for silt, sand, etc. I just replaced these filters after our first year renting (landlord is traveling and not available) and I was told I could get these 20" inch water filters "almost anywhere". So I did.... and now our water tastes like it's fresh from a garden hose!! I'm in the doghouse with my beautiful bride. As in the movie Indiana Jones and the Lost Crusade, the bad guy selecting the wrong holy grail chalice and the knight templar says, "He chose..... poorly", and so did I. Can anyone recommend a good Lakeside store for drinking water filters? Mil gracias!
Ferret
If you still have the old filters, take them with you. I suspec that one of them was a charcoal filter. I buy filters from JP Home Services in San Antonio... between iShop and SuperLake.

The carbon is for sell and off taste and the particulate is to get particulate down to the size UV will kill. https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-1302569538-2-cartuchos-carbon-bloque-y-plisado-20-big-blue-20-x-45-_JM?searchVariation=173562155431#searchVariation=173562155431&position=8&search_layout=grid&type=item&tracking_id=c606aaea-af64-41c3-939a-6b7b9d27c4b6
tjt
If there is a whole house filter system in place with UV... Is a RO system for under the sink in the kitchen (drinking water) needed or is that overkill? Thanks!
dichosalocura
No, it is certainly not overkill. The way I understand the UV light and RO (we have both by the way) is that the UV light kills or neutralizes all the pathogens and amoebas in the water but does not filter out all the contaminents, poisons, and natural occuring cyanide in the well water nor anything else that may be floating around in the water. That is where RO comes into play. RO provides perfectly clean and pure drinking water while UV provides water safe enough to shower and bath in. That is how I have understood the differences. But sure plenty of people only have UV and manage to stay healthy. Its your choice.
Alpha1
http://www.elmundodelagua.com.mx/ A carbon filter at the end stage of filtration should make the water odour free. If there is excess silt in the water entering the filter system, then a prefilter of 50 u microns may be suggested.
