Mexico legal age to work

Recommended Posts

My gardener is getting up in age and asked if he could bring his 15 y.o. grandson to help him. I want to make sure I comply with all laws in this situation. I'd pay the grandson the same wage. The work would happen outside school hours. And I checked Mexico's labor laws, and appears if a minor if 15 y.o., its legal to work as long as parents provide written permission. Any issues with this situation? Anything I need to be aware of?

I just checked this and there are weird rules if under 18. If you are to do it right he needs to get a social security number and you need to insure him( as he works with his father might be some exemptions if he is insured). As of his age some types of work not allowed and there are reduced hours. You should have someone read the labor law to make sure you are OK.
