Natasha
This has been in place for some time, but apparently many are still confused. IMPORTANT : entry via any means could land you in the same hot water as these people and the link to valid Canadian news site. You CANNOT avoid it and you must do it in advance. https://globalnews.ca/news/8424670/covid-19-arrivecan-app-alberta-couple-quarantine/
mudgirl
These people's excuses were totally lame. Ignorance of the regulations is no excuse- the info is readily available and updated in real time on the Govt. of Canada website, including the link to the ArriveCAN website. Natasha
Hubbie laughed when I told him about it. Apparently their town is 7 miles ( miles used when he was last there 😅) from the U.S. border, and people on both sides there have always driven back and forth like it doesn't exist. So I guess in this case, they COULD be excused because this was first trip post-border opening, and being "country folk" this could easily-enough have been missed. virgo lady
To be fair to them, when the gov't made the change to allow land crossings of less than 72 hours out of Canada without needing to be tested, there was no mention at all of the continuing need to use the ArriveCan app when returning. It has caused a lot of people to do the same thing until the media attention that has raised the issue and awareness.
