Minimum wage and inflation

So the minimum wage will be increased by 22% and a little more in the special border zone area effective 2022. So that basically pretty much tells me what the real inflation will be as we move on with the economic fall out from COVID. 😒 (expect your house help to request a pay increase next year).

"your house help" is being paid significantly over the minimum wage as it is.

The 22% increase in minimum wage has little to do with MEX's 7% inflation rate.  AMLO has consistently raised the minimum wage far beyond the annual rate of inflation since taking office.

Do you really believe in the official inflation rate ? As an example, the costs of a "Bolio" which is kind of like French bread bun  went from 5 to 8 Pesos about 2 months ago (or a 60 % increase). By the way, most workers seem to eat a Bolio sandwich and drink a Coke for their breakfast. ☺️

Bolillo.  I haven't noticed a huge price increase.  Maybe 1 peso over the past year???  But to be honest, unless only buying and paying for one, I might not have noticed.

The baguettes I buy at my local deli have not increased, nor has the price of their bolillo sandwiches.

I found this post by Computer Guy (may he RIP) saying bolillos were 6 pesos more than 3 years ago.

Heck, even a bolillo costs 6 pesos these days.

Except that until about 2 months ago I was the only non Mexican living in my neighborhood and I do all my shopping and eating here with maybe occasionally eating at the market (what I normally order has increased by 13 %). Obviously, in "Gringo alley" there is a "little" mark up. Feel free to come to the Cascada/Santa Maria area and inquire. ☺️
